Mrs. W. D. (Mary Alice) Heard,
age- 94, of Cumming, were held
Dec. 15, 1971 at Shady Grove
Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m.
Officiating ministers were Rev.
Hoyt Thompson and Rev. Dennis
Roper. Interment in church ce
metery.
Survivors include: 2 daugh
ters, Mrs. Toy Harris and Mrs.
marts ton Henderson, both of
Cummins; 2 sons, Mr. Homer
Heard and Mr. Clifton Heard
of Cumming; 17 grandchildren
and 27 great grandchildren; 2
half brothers, Clyde Martin of
Cumming and William Martin
of Canton; 2 half sisters, Mrs.
Eva Satterfield of Canton and
mis. Alma Harris of Cumming;
1 sister-in-law, Mrs. Lula Sa
mples of Buford and several
nelces and nephews.

vices for Mrs. Mon tie McFar
land, age 79, of Route 6, Cum
ming, were held Dec. 12, 1971
at Hawcreek Baptist Church at
2:00 p.m. Officiating ministers'
were Rev. Larmon Barron, Rev.
Early Day and Rev. J.T. Se
well. Interment in church ceme
tery.
Survivors include: 3 sons,
Mr. Mark E. Gaines, Mr. Har
ney L. Gaines and Mr. Norman
Gaines all of Cumming; 10 gr
andchildren and 11 great grand
children.

GILBERT - Funeral services
for Mr. Doyle E. Gilbert, age
52, of Route 6, Cumming, were
held Dec. 12, 1971 at Shady
Grove Baptist Church at 2:00
p.m. Officiating minister was
Rev. Hoyt Thompson. Interment
in church cemetery.
Survivors include: 2 sisters,
Mrs. Stella Sizemore of Cum

church cemetery.
Survivors include: wife, Mrs.
Mae Tidwell; 4 daughters, Mrs.

L. Fowler of Atlanta; 8 grand

Morse have been charged in
U. S. District Court for having
refused to sell a home to At
lanta’s Personnel Driector, Fr
anklin W. Thomas, a negro.
Thomas charged in the suit
that Morse twice refused to sell
him property in northwest sec
tion of city, just because he was
a black man. He further con
tended that Morse’s refusal to
sell him the desired property
violated federal open housing
laws.
The negro said that he filed
the suit as a class action for

A $135 thousand federal grant
awarded to the Georgia Depart
ment of State Parks this week
for the expansion of Little Oc
mulgee State Park near Mcßae

the Heart of Georgia Area Pl
anning & Development Commi
ssion.
“As far as I know,” said the
State Parks chief, “this is the
flrlt time the APDC has ever
procured an Economic Devel
opment Administration grant
dot a project proposed by a
Georgia state agency.” The fed
eral funds will be supplemented
by approximately $33,750 in
1968 bond issue monies cur

ney’s fees, punitive relief, and

pain and suffering from the em

He claimed that the related
incidents occurred on August
6 and 13, respectively.

The State Parks Department
hopes to begin construction on
the Little Ocmulgee golf course
addition by early spring, with
the facility being completed and
ready for use by spring of
1973, Director Bagby stated.
The 1,397-acre State Park is
located one mile north of Mc-
Rae on U. S. 319 and 441 and,
in addition to golfing facilities,
provides vacationing families
with cottages, developed camp
sites, beach and bathhouse.
