DR. P. W. TRIBBLE
Many Senior Citizens
Reside At Home
By: Diane Ball
A visit was made to the Cumming Convelescent Home located
on the square in Cumming. Mr. Bill Winters has been the owner
and Administrator of the 53 bed facility since its opening twelve
years ago. In this home are many senior citizens of Cumming
and Forsyth County; among them being some of the county's
foremost and highly regarded citizens.
Liza C. Garrett is 100 years old and is the oldest female
resident in the home. She is very alert and aware of her
surroundings, proven when the picture was taken and she
exclaimed, “And me in bed here!” Aunt Liza is a long time
resident of Forsyth County.
Hosea A. Stephens, the oldest male resident, at 92, is phy
sically and mentally alert. He roams the home and probably
knows everyone there, as they all know him. Mr. Stephens
has a son, H. A. Stephens, Jr. who now lives in Atlanta. Mr.
Stephens has lived in the home since 1960, when it first opened
its doors.
1 was able to talk with Dr. P. W. Tribble, former M. D. in
Forsyth County and now preacher. Dr. Tribble lived out near
Midway community but still calls it “home.” He preaches in
different churches nearly every Sunday. He's a Baptist but
claims he doesn't “preach Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian,
or wnatever. I preach Christ!”
Lots of things are said about the younger generation and I am
appealing to every member in that generality to visit the Con
valescent Home and talk'to the residents. There’s a surprising
number of things that you might learn.
