HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT
Whenever the weather has
you hot under the. collar or
the humidity has put a damp
er on your spirits, you can
play it cool by following
these breezy suggestions.
1. Drink plenty of liquid.
The more you perspire, the
more you should drink. On a
really hot day, you can pour
off 15 quarts of water! But
your normal thirst mecha
nism won’t make you suffi
ciently thirsty to replace all
the fluid you’ve lost.
3. Practice “drinkmanship”
by choosing cool, refreshing
drinks that let you get one-up
on the hot weather. Here are
several such drinks.
KUAPA DANISIf
FRUIT WINES
These include cherry,
blackberry and strawberry.
They can be served straight,
on the rocks, in spritzers or in
cocktails. Cherry Danish, for
example, is made with 1 1/2
ounces of Cherry Kijafa
wine, 1 ounce of Alborg
Akavit and the juice of l/Bth
of a lime. Fill the glass with
ice and 7-Up.
Jamaican Fruit punch
Slice and dice 1/2 pine
apple, place in large pitcher
with 3/4ths of a cup of sugar
syrup (a cup sugar, l/3rd cup
water boiled a few minutes,
cool), 1 cup of lemon juice, 1
1/2 cups of unsweetened pine
apple juice and 1 1/2 bottles
(fifths) of Myers Jamaica
Rum; if desired, add 3 ounces
of peach brandy. Chill in re
frigerator at least two hours.
To serve, pour over block of
ice in punch bowl, add two
quarts of soda and one pint
of sliced strawberries.

FINE PLUMBING FIXTURES
ELJER
LONG DRINKS
These include the Chiller
Diller, 7 Crown Mint Julep
and Mamie Taylor. Here are
the ingredients for some out
standing summer coolers.
Ron Collins
Juice of 1 lemon
Sugar to taste
2 oz. Ronrico White Label
Rum
Shake well with ice and
pour into a tall glass, add club
soda and garnish with fruit.
Daisy
Shake with ice:
1 1/2 oz. White Satin Gin
Juice of 1/2 lemon or
1/2 lime
1/2 teaspoon superfine
sugar
Stir with ice in highball
glass until glass frosts, top
with soda.
Chiller Diller
Pour one jigger of
Wolfschmidt Vodka over
crushed ice. Fill glass to brim
with Fresca. Stir.
7 Crown Mint Julep
Crush leaves of three to
four sprigs of mint with 1/2
teaspoon superfine sugar.
Add three ounces 7 Crown.

Decorate with a sprig of mint.
Mamie Taylor
1 1/2 oz. Passport Scotch

PARTY TYME
MARGARITA (Dry Mix)
Pour a jigger (11/2 ozs.) of
Tequila and a jigger of water
into a cocktail shaker or
blender. Add a packet of
Party Tyme Instant Margarita
Mix. Add cracked or cubed
ice. Shake or mix in blender
thoroughly. Moisten rim of
cocktail glass in salt. Pour
Margarita into glass through
strainer. Sip over salted rim.
3. If you lack air condi
tioning, put a 12-inch fan on
the floor during the day, and
let the breeze bounce off a
far wall. At night, set it about
three feet back from an open
window, squarely facing it
and blowing out. It will blow
hot air out, and suck in
cooler air through other open
windows.
4. Since blues and greens
tend to make you feel cooler
and calmer, use tablecloths,
towels, drapes, and lamps in
these colors. Pastel place mats
in reedy fibers add to the airy
illusion. One woman always
hangs a picture of a snow
scene in her living room.
5. Keep the sun out of
glass areas in your home
through awnings, screens,
trees or shrubbery, since sun
heats the glass and all surfaces
it shines on. This is especially
important if you want to
keep your air conditioner
from working unnecessarily
hard.
If you follow these sugges
tions, you may indeed find
something new under the sun
you! For you’ll feel like a
new person calm, cool and
collected even when some
one greets you with the old
chestnut, “Hot enough for
you today?”

HELLO, I’M ROBERT COKER
A CANDIDATE FOR
TAX COMMISSIONER OF FORSYTH COUNTY
As tax commissioner I will do everything possible to eliminate the waste of valuable
time now being lost standing in line at the office during the tag buying season. During
this time I will open the office early in the morning, stay open late in the evenings,
Saturday afternoons, and the office will always be open during the lunch hour, 1 intend
to work out a system for mail ordering the auto tag. I will do this in order to accomod
ate all the people of Forsyth County.
I will meet with any citizen of the county at anytime to discuss and try to resolve any
problem or complaint they may have with the office, or the personel within the office.
All the personel in the tax office will be honest, friendly, respectful, and courteous
with you at all times.
On back taxes, I intend to and will do everything within the power of the office to
collect these taxes. In my visiting around to some of the homes in the county these
past few days, I find it hard to believe that some of the names which appear on the
delinquent list are actually delinquents. I will work with the people with this problem
directly, get with all concerned, and after an investigation has been made; do find they
owe these taxes, then action will be taken to collect these taxes.
I will work with the County Commissioners, Tax Assessors, and all concerned citizens
in equalizing and preventing any further increases in our property taxes. 1 will work
with all the city and county government in an effort to better organize and to estab
lish a closer relation within the offices, and would like for all interested citizens to get
involved by having open meetings and discussing all the problems now facing all the
people of Forsyth County; try to look ahead and plan for the rapid growth, and ser
vices of our county.
In consideration of the current financial standing of our county it is useless for me
to try to tell you how vitally important it is that we elect and employ honest citizens
to fill every office of our government. We must elect a complete body of dedicated,
dependable, honest, and qualified citizens putting emphasis on good and readily avail
able service to all, in order to put a great county such as ours back on the road to
to success. This is why I’m asking you for your vote and support on August Bth, 1972.
Remember me on this date.
I am thankful for and proud of both my home and of Forsyth County.. 1 would like
to work with and serve you the people of Forsyth County, so give me a chance, get
out there and vote for Robert S. Coker, a man who enjoys helping you.
Thank you and may God bless.
