legislature’s recent appro
priation of S4OO per year tui
tion grants for students In pri
vate colleges will help to make
Truett - McConnell College the
least expensive college (pub
lic or private) to attend in No
rtheast Georgia, a spokesman
said.
During the year 1972 - 73,
a boarding student will be able
to attend Truett for a year’s
total fees of $1,265, or $422
per quarter. These figures in
clude tuition, fees, room, and
board.
Any commuting student will
be able to attend for $455 per
year, or $152 per quarter max
imum. Another important aid to
commuting students is a S7O
per quarter reduction in tuition
for all commuting students with

mited number of scholarships

physical science, mathematics,
music, languages and art.
According to the Director of
Admissions at Truett McCo
nnell, it is also possible for
the student with financial need
to have most or all of his
expenses at Truett McConnell
provided for him.

Classes were taught in Se
cond Class and First Class
ranks. Merit Badge courses that
were taken by our boys were
Archery, Indian Lore,Pioneer
ing, Swimming, Camping, For
estery, Nature, and Conserva
tion of Natural Resources.
Special projects were done
in some classes. In Pioneering
all th e bridges were rebuilt.
The Indian Lore class built
an Indian Village, and the First
Class and Camping classes took

This is a short rundown on
the week at camp. Sunday af
ternoon a worship service was
held, then a Council Fire at
the Council Ring. True to its
name of Rainey Mountain it
rained Monday and Tuesday so
there were no troop activities,
boys just went to classes. Wed
nesday night another Council
Fire was held and each troop did
a skit. On Thursday afternoon
some of us left for the over
night hike. Friday night at the
last Council Fire the staff pre
sented the program.
For meals a host system was

was the host’s duty to set the
table and put the food on the
table, also he had to clean up
the table after the meal. Thurs
day night was cooks night off,
so each troop was given their
food, which they had to pre
pare themselves.
Troop #39 wishes to thank Mr.
Ed Otwell for coming up to
stay with us Wednesday through
Saturday, as Mr. Dewitt and
Mr. Songer couldn’t be there
every day.
