In last Tuesday's minor lea
gue action Daves Creek rode the
strong, fas ball pitching arm of
Larry Roper as they downed Du
ck town 14 to 5. The win evened
the Daves Creek season record
at seven and seven. Dan Charles
smashed a homer and Tim Orr
added to the scoring effort with
a triple.
Cummlng outlasted Haw
Creek 13 to 10 in a hard fou
ght offensive struggle. Tony
Heard and Gary Johns earned
credit as co-winners for Cu
mmlng.
Dennis Byers blasted a home
run last Tuesday as Big Creek
downed Chestatee 12 to 8. It
was win number 9 for Big Cr
eek and Charles Blackstock was
the winning hurler.
Dwight Skinner pitched his
Chestatee team to a double vic
tory last Wednesday, as he and
the Chestatee team downed Cu
mmlng in a close one 9 to 7,
and Coal Mountain 12 to 6.
In Saturday's minor league
play the highlight of die Che
statee win over Ducktown was a
grand slam home run by Mike
Wagoner. The winning pitcher l
in the 23 to 17 contest was,
again, Dwight Skinner. The win
was number 15 for coach Win
fred Skinner's team.

Coal Mountain to their thirt
eenth victory of the season as
they defeated Friendship 26
to 11.
Coal Mountain defeated Cu
mmlng 11 to 7 last Saturday
and Eddie Smith was the win
ner.

of the Cumming minor team
received great support from his
team both in the field and at the
plate as Cumming downed Ches
tatee 9 to 6. Cumming now has
won 13 games and lost only 2.

Little League Action
On June 27th. - Chestatee
and Big Creek fought to one
of the closest contest played
all year and Chestatee squeaked
by 3 to 2. Jeff Wagoner was
the winning pitcher and also
added a homer to help his own
cause.
On June 30th. - Wayne Sam
ple held Ducktown to only three
runs as he struck out 14 bat
ters. Greg Pruitt led the Matt
scoring attack as they accounted
for 10 runs.
July 5 saw Kevin Smith pitch
Coal Mountain to a 10 to 2
victory over Chestatee. It was
Coal Mountain’s 14th win of the
year against only two defeats.

Cumming swept a two game
series from the first place
South Cobb team last week by
scores of 6 to 5, and 10 to 2.
In the first game Keith Hol
brook struck out 10 would be

inning contest, while allowing
only 5 hits to losers. The

two for three at the plate and
driving in one run. Keith Hol
brook, Bill Higginbotham, and
Steve Shoemake all had a hit

Cumming now has a share
of first place in the league
and undisputed possession of the
top position depends on te out
come of the remaining games.

Andrews Hurls
Third
No—Hitter
Only two games were played
in the Senior League last week,
but the highlight of the action
was the third no-hitter of the
season pitched by Brad And
rews. Andrews not only held the
Coal Mountain team hitless but
his tarn mates supported him
so as t completely shut them
out. While Andrews was doing
tne pitching his team mates
were doing the scoring as the
Cumming nine pushed across 11
runs for their 17th win of the
year.
In the other Senior contest
Greg Gravltt hurled Cumming
to an 18 to 3 win over Haw
Creek. Ralph Perry is the coach
of the Cumming senior team.
