The
Livini
Way
By ROGER WILLIAMS

First Baptist Church
“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plen
teous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.” David’s
affirmation of God’s mercy is moving. His is an active mercy
rather than passive or benign. He seeks out his own and strives
to make opportunity for restitution. What a marvelous example
for us. How often when we feel that we’ve been sinned against
do we close off channels of potential mercy and grace. We get
the “poor me” look and adopt the attitude of a wounded Grizzly
Bear. Thank God that such is not his attitude with us. When
we maintain possibilities for mercy and grace we open up the
chances for human growth and development. I’m reminded of
the story of Abram and Lot and how Abram was generous and
gracious with Lot when a dispute arose concerning water and
pastures. Abram graciously granted Lot the better facilities.
Later on he was to rescue Lot from capturity. In short, we see
the journey of a maturing and useful servant of God who bcame
great through his humility and mercy. It's a lesson for us.

More than
amnn
Did you ever have a pal who was like a second shadow to
you ... a friend who was always there when you needed him
. . . someone who laughed with you when you were happy, and
comforted you when your turtle died or your puppy ran away?
Our world is a big place, and people, even close friends,
can’t always stay together. One day you had to say “goodbye”
and go your separate ways.
Since then, you’ve found new friends. You’ve also found
an emptiness, a need, which people alone could not satisfy. We
need a goal at the end of life’s path and unfading strength and
guidance along the way.
Only God can fill this emptiness.
Only God can be with you the entire length of your path.
And when you reach the end? Only God can take you
safely beyond.
Come to church this Sunday. You don’t have to walk alone.
