Living
Way

men wno participate in t rack and Field athletics are often
called “thin-clads.”
This is because often their warm up exercises they take off
the heavy sweat shirts and pants and wear only very light
weight, loose fitting, shirts and pants so as not to encumber
them in any way while they run.
In order to do the best possible job they dispose of anything
that might hinder them or slow them down in their pursuit
of victory.
This is a fitting analogy for the Christian. Too often we try
to carry along too much baggage that gets in our way and hin
ders our progress. Christ said that if we are to follow him
and follow him effectively, we would have to shed a lot of extra
luggage.
We must be geared up properly for the journey. Often this
means leaving behind some old alliances, habits, attitudes and
prejudices in order to provide the necessary energy to live
a winsome and separated Christian life.
For some it’s a high price to pay, but remember the stakes
are high, too. Best of all, the reqards are the most satisfy
ing, peace giving and fulfilling to be found.
H you haven’t found these, ask God to come into your life
and accept the gift he offers, the gift of freedom, joy and life.
Until you really trust him for this gift, you won’t discover
real joy.

St. John once said: “If we
say we have no sin, we
deceive ourselves, and the
truth is not in us. If we
confess our sins. He is faithful
and just, and will forgive us
our sins and cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.”
