A continuance on the hearing
was granted last Friday when
Gllstrap’s defense attorney, J.

a doctor’s certificate, signed
by an Atlanta physician saying
the defendant could not attend
due to his health. Gllstrap was
reported to be in Georgia Bap

Billy Wayne Dooley, Gain

counts of violating the act.
Gilstrap, 54, was charged
with five counts of violating
the act in an operation which
officers said could amount to
$4 million a month in retail
drug sales. Officers said they
believed the operation could be
one of the largest in Georgia,
possibly in the Southeast.
Gilstrap was later released
from Hall County Jail on a
$51,000 bond and at the time
bers to advise them of pre

tax commissioner. Bobby Gene

face each other on the ballot
for that office.
Major was the top vote get

more candidates in that race s

a majority. Robert S. Coker

Undercover agents had been
watching Gllstrap’s operation
for months and had been making
buys through his connections.
Agents had bought from Dooley
and finally, on Tuesday, they
were able to make a direct buy
from Gilstrap himself, they
said.
The $1,750 used to buy the
5,000 amphetamine capsules
Tuesday had been marked with
a special fluorescent powder
that reacts to black lighting.
The agents were looking for
those bills when they began their
search.
Gilstrap had $2,510 on his
person when he was arrested
but none of the bills was those
used by the agents.
While the search was going

in a 1965 Chevrolet Impala,
officers said. They asked her
