Boys 9 Clubs Helping
To Build Character
Neither money nor influence
can buy some tilings. One of
these is character. No indivi
dual and no nation can survive
for long without this quality.
It is the responsibility of each
generation to pass qualities of
character along to succeeding
generations. No organization
is helping to carry out this
primary obligation of citi
zenship in a more striking
manner than the Boys' Clubs of
America. Almos a million
members are enrolled in Boys*
Clubs.
Each year, the activities of
Boys' Clubs are reviewed and
OIL MAKES NEWS
IN GEORGIA
Take a good look at the newspaper you're holding. Without oil, it
might not be there.
From the film In the press camera to the rollers in the presses-today’s
newspapers depend on products that come from oil. Even the ink comes
from oil.
To get a newspaper out takes a lot of energy too. And 75% of all our
energy comes from oil and natural gas (including 40% of our electricity).
But today, we're using these petroleum fuels faster than we are finding
them. That's why America faces an Energy Gap.
We’re your local oil companies. Working to bridge the growing Energy
Gap. Because it shouldn’t be news to anyone that a country that runs on
oil can't afford to run short. -

MASH TRASH
All over Forsyth County, peo
ple are asking questions about
trash compactors.
Certainly, the trash problem
is mounting everywhere, and
this innovation win nerp ob
viate the garbage disposal dil
emma.
A compactor does not eli
minate trash, rather squeezes
it into a neat package. It takes
care of dry trash, not wet gar
bage.
The appliance requires only
15 inches of space and can be
installed anywhere kitchen,
utility room, garage. Operation
is simple. Just pull out a
drawer, drop in the trash, close
drawer and push a button. A
ram, moving slowly under great
pressure, compacts a week's
accumulation to fit into one
small bag.
Unpleasant odor is eliminated
by a measured amount of deo
dorant spray automatically re
leased each time the drawer is
ciosea.
Operation cost is minimal,
however bags and deodorant sp
ray must be purchased on a re
gular basis.

Matt. 5:28 "Whosoever look

’ her hath committed adultery
with her already in his heart.”
If you dress in a manner to
cause men to lust after you
you are just as guilty as he
; is. The people in these nudists
camps must be poor to, because
they never wear a stitch of clo
thing till it turns cold. God does
look on the heart of everyone,
what do you think he sees when
he looks on the heart of anyone
who practices nudism? if any
preacher of any denomination
don't have the backbone to tell
his congregation that its wrong
to wear shorts and pants he’s
not a preacher because in Deu- j

its God’s word "The women s

a man put on a woman’s garment
for ail that do so are abomina

: Its got so bad now that you
can’t tell which is the man or

Grouping pictures for a wall
arrangement becomes easier
if you keep a few handy poin
ters in mind. Remember that the
arrangement needs some sem
blance of order.
Therefore, try to group pic
tures to form at least one
vertical and one horizontal line.
Distribute weight evenly. Ela
borate frames, dark mats, and
oil paintings are visually hea
vier than water colors. Keep
in mind that pictures do not
have to be spaced evenly, but
the space between pictures sh
ould be kept at a minimum.

Work out the arrangement on the
floor before placing it on the
wall to get the feel of the
grouping as a whole.

Georgia Retardation Center
Closer To Reality
With Federal Grants
Training goals of the Geor
gia Retardation Center, a state
treatment, training and re
search facility for the retarded
located in DeKalb County near
Chamblee with a branch on
the University of Georgia cam
pus at Athens, have moved clo
ser to reality with the receipt
of two federal support grants,
Acting Commissioner J. Battle
Hall, Georgia Department of
Human Resources, announced
in Atlanta.
"The larger grant, totaling
$417,196, which is being funded
by the Social and Rehabilitative
Service, U.S. Department of
Health, Education and Welfare,
will make possible the full im
plementation of the Center’s
university affiliated program,"
Hall explained.
"Twelve colleges and uni
versities, including Georgia St
ate, Georgia Tech, the Univer
sity of Georgia at Athens, Em
ory, Oglethorpe, and Atlanta
Universities, the Medical Col
lege oi ijeoi ftia, Clayton and K&-
nnestone Junior Colleges, Duke
University, and the University
of Alabama are now participatlnt
in GRC’s training program in
which some 2,000 students a
year are currently involved,”
he added.
THE FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS-AUGUST 17, 19*?2-
"What this grant means to
Georgia and to her people --
while difficult to translate in
one-to-one terms goes far
beyond its economic impact,"
the Human Resources official
went on. -we re prouu oi tne
fact that it is the largest grant
of Title n funds under the De
velopmental Disabilities Act yet
made to any state facility. We’re
prouder still of the fact that it
will permit the Center's uni
versity affiliated program to
upgrade the quality of education
offered trainees in a wide var
iety of professional and medical
disciplines, and to expand these
training efforts to include co
mmunity workers from across
the state.
"Ultimately, Georgia’s en
tire mental retardation service
system canbeimprovedthrough
integration of well-grained and
experienced people into our in
stitutions and community pro
grams," Hall said. "This is the
real significance we attach to
the grant."
The second contractual
agreement between the Retar
dation Center and the Depart
ment of Health, Education and
Welfare totals $92,000. It is to
be used in determining and
developing vocational readiness
in retarded individuals who are
ineligible for regular work-tr
aining programs.
"Under terms Of this grant,"
Hall revealed, "retarded per
sons entering the Center wiU be
screened to determine their vo
cational potential, and will re
ceive training designed to make
them as independent as they are
capable of becoming either in
Institutional care or in the
outside work-a-dav world. It
may w*u represent the begin
ning of a new and more pro
ductive life for hundreds of
retarded persons who move th
rough treatment and training
programs at the Retardation
Center each year."
According to Dr. James Cle
ments, Retardation Center
director, both grams cover a
two-year period and will be un
der the overall supervision of
Dr. Ro y Fossett, director of
Affiliated Training and Re
search at the state facllitv, who
developed tne project
catlons that resulted in acqui
sition of the half-million plus
federal funds.
