PANTRY SPACE
Once upon a time, not so
many years ago, every house
had a kitchen pantry. Then along
came a period when it was now
here to be seen. Now we are
coming full cycle again and the
pantry is showing up in many
new house Dlans. If vou’ve been
pining lor one um see no chance
of getting it, don’t despair. It
may be easier than you think
to build one at your house.
First of all, rid yourself of
any ideas you might have that
a pantry has to be a big walk-in
closet. Nice as it might be to
have, it is not necessary. Supp
lies stored on shallow shelves
are easy to get to and space
for those shelves may be luking
in a place you have not even
noticed. It may be on any wall,
one that is already in use or
doing nothing more than stand
ing there.
As you look around, carry a
mental picture of about 12 inches

because that depth can hold a lot
of supplies. In fact, nine inches
of shelf deDth can hold two rows
of almost anything in a can or
jar. Places to look include a
wall that is one side of a pass
ageway, any place that is re
cessed a few inches, on the side
of appliances such as refrig
erator, freezer and built-in
range, behind doors, wallspace
that is without wall cabinets,
under windows, as in adjoining
room or passageway.
Once you’ve found the space,
make the best use of it by in
stalling adjustable shelves for
flexibility and considering
slightly tilted shelves on the
doors.
A slight tilt eliminates the
necessity of a rail to hold things
in. These same ideas are work
able whether the space you con
vert is large or small. After
all, what you are after is storage
for jars, cans, boxes of food and
other supplies. It doesn’t have to
be fancy but it should be usable.

SPECS APPEAL
If you haven’t already
noticed, eyeglasses have really
come into their own as great
beauty accents and fashion
accessories. So much so that
even gals who don’t need
them wear fabulous fakes for
specs appeal.
With that in mind, here are
some tips from the Fashion
Eyewear Group of America
to help you become a vision
of loveliness:
1. Blonds look great in
transparent beige or pastel
frames; redheads and brown
ettes in tortoise classics; true
brunettes in dramatic black.
2. Makeup colors should
complement the tint of tinted
lenses. A light lavender tint
flatters brown eyes, and a
light green tint gives extra
emphasis to hazel and green
eyes.
j.? 1 N - n
3. The eyes behind no
color frames need to be
accented a little more with
mascara, liner and shadow.
And, because one set of
eyebrows is enough for any
gal, tops of sexy spec rims
should rise above them.
