Nearly 104,000 are under age

a working father or mother has

Also in this 18-22 age gro- ■ —
up, Collins said, are some o
ther type of beneficiaries, il
lustrating the broad family pro
tection that the social security
program provides workers of
all ages. Some are children of
retired, disabled, or deceased
workers who became disabled
before they reached 18 and who
will probably never be able to
work and become self-support
ing. The monthly benefits of t

A sedentary existence all

ndefinltely. Benefits are also
payable to the mother if the d

the mother's care.
Another relatively small but
significant group of youthful s
ocial security beneficiaries are
those who are receiving bene
fits as disabled workers. So
cial security disability pay
ments can be paid to a person
who becomes disabled for work
even if he has less than five
years of work under social s

half years of work is required
in the case of a worker who be
