Men whose wives die—or be
come 100 percent disabled
while in military service now
have equal rights with the wives
and widows of male veterans
under the provisions of the new
veterans benefits law that be
came effective in October 1972.

home following a short illness.
Mrs. Henderson was a former
resident of Forsyth County.

lotte, Florida; four sons; Mr.

“Mystery at the Pilgrim Dig”-

All kinds of trouble was brew
ing at the Pilgrim dig at Pll
moth Plantation, and twelve
year old Jed Foster was deter
mined to get to the bottom of it.
F irst of all there was the ghostly
Pilgrim, a black clad figure
whom Jed and his sleuthing
partner, Kathy Stuart, had seen
on occasion, stealing around the
Plantation, looking highly sus
picious. Then, Jed’s grand
father was having problems; it
really seemed as if someone
about the rights of dependents
and survivors of female vet
erans. Its effect was to make
the word "wife” Include the
husband of a female veteran
and “widow” Include the wi
dower of a female veteran wh
en they apply to veteran ben
efits.

all veterans- male and female

help his grandfather, so he rac

thinking, and put his dis
coveries, his courage, and his
ingenuity to work in his efforts
to unmask the Plantations vil
lian. Mystery at the Pilgrim
Dig is an exciting story, not
only because it is the suspense
filled account of Jed Foster’s

exists in Plymouth, Massachu

The Forsyth County Jay
cette’s Awards Committee met
last Thursday night to pre
pare entries for regional and
statp seryice competition.
Projects sponsored by the lo
cal Jaycees and Jaycettes dur
ing 1972 will be submitted for
judging.
The two local organizations
announced that the “Empty St
ocking Fund’* was successful in
serving 125 families. Toys, clo
thing and food was provided to
approximately 350 children.
The Jaycees collected over
$2,400 for the project in the
two roadblock campaigns arid
from civic clubs and individual
donations.
Bill Barnett, president of the
Jaycees, said the local group
will host a regional basketball
tournament at the Forsyth Co

this week presented to cities
of Cumming and Dawsonville,-
Forsyth & Dawson Counties
(checks) totaling $ 16,515.83,
representing the utility's local
taxes for 1972.
1 Of the total, Forsyth County
received $9,348.67 Dawson Co
unty received $6,026.92; the
|ity of Cumming $1,019.69, and
file City of Dawsonville $120.55.
In presenting the tax pay
ments, Carl Curtis, Local
Manager, said this was of
approximately $20,500,000 in
property taxes that will be paid
by the company for the year
1972 to state, municipal and
county governments through
out Georgia.
Earlier in the year, muni
cipal partnership tax payments
totaling more than $7*672,006
Were made by- the company to
file 408 cities, towns and com
munities with which its part
nership franchise agreement
fcas in effect. Under this
greement, the company pays
