4-H Winners
Are Named
Forsyth County 4-H’ers
recently returned from the
north district project
achievement meeting at Rock
Eagle with two first place
honors. ' p '
The local delegation joined
other 4-H champions from
north area counties for the
1974 achievement meeting.
Demonstrations and
records earned district
honors for five Forsyth
County 4-H’ers, according to
Zelma Bannister, extension
home economist, and Walter
Rucker, county agent.
District winners from
Forsyth County are David
DeLong, poultry, and Walter
Rucker Jr., wildlife.
In addition to two first place
winners, three Forsyth
Countians brought home third
place honors.
Third place honors went to
Jody Durand, recreation
method; Reg Martin, human
development; and Ernie
Phillips, public speaking.
Awards of excellence went
to Myra Monroe, clothing and
textiles; Ann Rucker, dog
care; Darlene Higgins, en
tomology; Nell McWilliams,
horse and pony; Ann Pat
terson, housing and equip
ment; Teresa Walls, human
development; Joyce Ann
DeLong, public speaking;

City Park
Has It All
Everyone uses the Cum
ming City Park in one way or
another. Monday Jennett
Bennett, busy Jaycette
president, and the six
children she cares for, in
cluding her own. Had a
morning of fun and work.
Janet caught up on her
paperwork for the club she
heads, while her charges
participated in a swimming
program on a staggered
basis, played in the sandbox
and on the unusual rustic
playground equipment, or
napped in the shade.
The park has swimming
lessons daily from 9 a.m. until
1 p.m., when the pool is open
to the public. Included in
children’s swimming lessons
is water front safety. Adults
can learn to swim from 7 to 9
p.m. Thursday. On other

Fishing conditions at Lake
Lanier are good for
largemouth bass, white bass
and trout and fair for crappie,
according to the report by
Ben Gunn of the Department
of Natural resources in
Atlanta. The water is normal
and clear.
Condition in other North
Georgia lakes follow:
Allatoona, fair for all
species; the ftater is normal
and clear.
Blue Ridge, good for bass

Sunday night when the park
closes down at 6 p.m., the pool
is open to the public until 9
p.m.
Basketball lessons are
given from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday, Wednesday and
Friday and from 6 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday
nights.
Trampoline and tumbling
lessons are scheduled for 6 to
8 p.m. Tuesday. Tennis
lessons are also available.
A softball and baseball
program involving 11 teams,
aside from visiting teams, is
on the agenda daily, begin
ning at 5:30.
New this year is a
playground area for smaller
children, and there are ex
cellent picnicing facilities.
During the year the park is
visited by hundreds of groups
from the entire area.
