Medals Won
At Olympics
Gold, silver and bronze
medals were brought back to
Forsyth County by special
education students who
participated in the statewide
Special Olympics held
recently at Clarkston, Ga.
Among the celebrities who
presented the medals were
Tommy Nobis of the Atlanta
Falcons.
Gold medal winners were
Hugh Bennett, Dewayne Cash,
Mike Smith and Ricky Pruitt.
Mack Shirley, Ricky Nichols
and Troy Fields brought back
silver medals, and bronze
medals were won by Jane

performance declines with

to a Pennsylvania State Uni
versity researcher.
Dr. Paul Bates said there is
very strong evidence to sug
gest that when the aged per
form poorly on standardized
intelligence tests it is because
they “belong to another gen
eration,” and not necessarily
because of their age.

a no-hitter against Ducktown
on Friday, June 28 and
allowed only one base runner
on a walk. Matt downed
Ducktown 23-0.
On Tuesday, July 2, Kevin
Smith of Coal Mountain pit
ched a one hit shutout against
Daves Creek to clinch at least
a tie for first place in the
senior league. Coal Mountain
won, 6-0. This win gave Smith
an 8-0 record for the season.
