Mrs. Helen Brooks Speaks At Garden Club
The following items were
taken from the July 15, 1954,
edition of the Forsyth County

Mrs. Helen Brooks of the
Rose Garden Club of Cum
ming was the guest speaker at
the Forsyth County Home
Demonstration Council on
July 10. She gave a most in
teresting lecture on flower
arranging and made five
lovely arrangements.
Mrs. Edith Bennett, Council
president, presided. Reports
were given by Mrs. Lois
Heard and Miss Ruth
Driskell.
Miss Virginia Lancaster,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
R.R. Lancaster of Cumming,
became the bride of Edsel
Orr, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
Orr, July 2 at Pleasant View
Baptist Church. The Rev.
Hoyt Thompson officiated.
The bride was given in
marriage by her brother-in
law, Rex Clark.
Ivan Orr, uncle of the
groom, was best man. Estelle
Clark, sister of the bride, was
matron of honor. Usher-
Groomsmen were Ralph
Sexton and Howell Tatum.

Mrs. Dean DeWhitt

Mr. and Mrs. Comer Lee
Barnett attended the Rural
Carriers Convention in
Gainesville last week. Mrs.
Barnett is president of the
district auxiliary and made
one of the welcome addresses.
The Baptist Training Union
of the First Baptist Church
entered the Intermediate
group at a hayride Saturday
night. Everyone enjoyed
home made ice cream and
cake.
The chapel at Fort
McPherson was the scene of
the marriage of Mrs. Jo
Brannon Duncan, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James S.
Brannon of Camming and
Staff Sgt. Grover L. West of
Columbus, Ga.

Report
Fishing conditions on Lake
Lanier are good for crappie
and bass, according to a
recent report released by the
Department of Natural
Resources.
TTie lake is reported above
normal and clear.
Conditions around other
north Georgia lakes include:
Allatoona, excellent for white
bass, bream and catfish and
good for crappie and bass;
Blue Ridge, slow for all
species; Burton, fair for all
species; Chatuge, good for
crappie, bream and catfish
and fair for white bass;
Hartwell, fair for largemouth
bass; and Weiss, good for
bass and also good for
crappie.

during June, according to the
