Day Care Center Enjoys Puppet Show
BY CATHY PUCKETT
Staff Writer
Some 55 pre-school age
children at Forsyth County
Day Care Center were
treated to a puppet show pro
duction by “Piccadilly Pup
pets” performing the special
production at the center last
week.
“Piccadilly Puppets” is
sponsored by Special Au
diences, Inc., which receives
support from the Georgia
Council for the Arts and
Humanities and National
Endowment for the Arts.
Special Audiences-has sign
ed a contract with the
Department of Human
Resources to provide
cultural services to Depart
ment of Human Resources
Social Services clients.
Forsyth County Day Care
Center is a contracting agen
cy of the Department of
Human Resources and pro
vides child care and social
services to families who are
determined eligible by their
income. The day care center
makes no distinction on the
grounds of race, color, or na
tional origin, with respect to
the admission policy for
child care services as long as
the client is eligible by
federal income guidelines.
The show entitled, “Nor
man Bean and the Time
Machine,” was written and
produced by Ken and Carol
Daniels, producers with
Special Audiences, Inc., of
Atlanta. Thanks to Jamie
Moore and Nita Laca, the
children were presented a
delightful comedy skit with
13-characters in puppet
form.
The story began with the
“star” puppet Norman Bean
becoming somewhat disillu
sioned with his clean up job
at the Museum of
Technology. Norman had
wanted to step inside the
museum’s time machine for
sometime and didn’t see any
harm since the machine had
never worked right anyway.
Being brave enough to
mash a few buttons Norman
soon heard strange noises
and flashing lights that sent
him in time back into the
Stone Age period, to
Plymouth Rock, to meet the
Wright Brothers, then into
the future in the year 3080,
and then back to good ole’
1980.
Using original music and
scripts written by Carol and
Ken Daniels, the children
delighted at the feats per
formed by Jamie Moore and
Nita Laca. Many times there
were three and four puppet
characters on stage at one
time, and the two Special Au
diences, Inc., represen
tatives amazed the audience
with their talents.
Special Audiences, Inc.,
has provided the Forsyth
County Day Care Center
with numerous tickets in the
past for performances of the
Vagabond Marionettes,
Atlanta Childrens Theatre,
Atlanta Symphony, Festival
of Christmas Trees and the
U.S.A. Ice Skating Cham
pionship, the children were
delighted to play host to the
performers at the center.
