Heart Month

For Talent Show
The Forsyth County Band
Booster Club will sponsor a
Talent Show, and savings
bonds and cash prizes will be
awarded to the winners.
The talent show will be
held on Saturday, March 15,
at the Forsyth County High
School Gym, and the pro
gram is open to anyone and
everyone.

Hold Meet
The Cumming Jaycees are
having a meeting Feb. 7, at
7:30 p.m., at Cumming City
Hall.
All young men between the
ages of 18 and 36, are urged
to come and take part in the
community program
available.
Application forms should
be picked up at any Forsyth
County schools or the Classic
Shop. A $5, entrance fee is
required to enter the show.
Anyone unable to pick up an
application should contact

into three divisions: 12 years
old and under; 13-18 years old
and adult division. There
will be savings bond
and plaque awarded to one
winner in each division, and
a S2OO cash prize given to one
overall winner.

Bonnie Voss is a local
silk flower instructor
and has been making
and creating silk
flowers for several
years. Patchwork is
very proud to have her
as one of our many in
structors and feel you
can learn easily from
her own techniques. We
are sponsoring an all
day workshop on Satur
day, Feb. 9, 1980 from
10:00 to 4:30, given by
Bonnie Voss. In this
workshop you will learn
to make many silk
flowers including tulip,
lily, peony and
dogwood. The cost for
this day will be only

ing, died Jan. 28,1980 follow
ing an extended illness.
He is survived by his
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
James F. Whitmire of Cum
ming; brothers, James M.
Whitmire of Sanford, N.C.,
and Cecil H. Whitmire of
Cumming; sister, Mrs.
Louise Davis of Cumming;
and several nieces and
nephews.
Services were held
Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at
the Antioch Baptist Church
with Rev. Phil Martin, Rev.
Harold Sutton and Dr.
Rupert Bramblett of
ficiating. Interment was in
Sawnee View Memorial

Golden
Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Padgett of Rt. 2, Cumming, celebrated
their Golden Wedding anniversary, Nov. 16, with some 150
friends and relatives attending the reception. The reception
given in honor of their 50th. anniversary was hosted by their
children and grandchildren and held at the Ducktown Lodge
Hall. The Padgetts received many gifts and an official
greeting from President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter.

The keynote speaker at the
joint meeting of the VFW
Post and Auxiliary was State
Representative Virlyn Smith
who introduced the bill to
legalize the use of marijuana
for medical purposes.
The House this past week
approved a state controlled
research project to test the
effectiveness of marijuana
in easing the nausea of
cancer patients undergoing
chemotherapy and the eye

ed to the fall term Dean’s
List at Furman University.
The Dean’s List is com
prised of full-time
undergraduate students who
earn a grade point average
