Freedom
Not Free
WHtk eaiUmfam
Don’t want to be drafted? Try slavery as an alternative.
How some of our population can be so naive is beyond belief.
Since when is freedom free? It’s never been free in a sinful
world and will always bear high price tags. The father of the
H-bomb announced this week that in the event of a war with
Russia we would be totally devastated and would cease to ex
ist as a nation. In spite of this some folks seem to believe that
if we won’t fight, no one else will either. Such an attitude
reveals ignorance of history plus simple cowardice. The Rus
sians have demonstrated they don’t mind going to war and
weaker nations are easy prey for them. As soon as they are
convinced we won’t do anything more than boycott Olympic
games and stop selling grain to them, we too will become the
prey. Many of our national leaders seem bent on convincing
them that we’re, merely a nest of hares with no spine for pro
tecting ourselves or anyone else.
Lack of discipline and soft morals always collapse a nation.
The Bible points it out over and over again as Israel would
become lax, disobedient and immoral and Would be overrun
by stronger and more aggressive neighbors.
The Russians have proven over and over again what they
will do lo dissent in their own rank. Twenty million Kulaks
were put to death in the 30s and 40s making Hitler look like a
piker by comparison. They crushed the Hungarian uprising
in 1954, the Czechoslovah uprising in the 60s and now they've
taken Afghanistan. How many times do we have to be hit bet
ween the eyes before the message sinks in? It is time to shape
up morally and militarily or it will forever be too late.

Basic Questions
L 4 &
What is commitment?
Commitment is: subjec
tion or submission. Chris
tianity is a religion that calls
for a commitment to God.
“Without commitment there
is no Christianity.”
James 4:7, “Submit
yourselves therefore to
God.”
Romans 10:3, “For being
ignorant of the righteousness
that comes from God, and
seeking to establish their
own, they did not submit to
God’s righteousness.”
In Christianity we are call
ed to: Commit ourselves to
God, then our belongings and
actions.
What kind of commit
ment?
There are four kinds of
commitment. Only one of
them describes the Christian
commitment.
1. There is the slave com
mitment to his master. It is a
forced commitment. A com
mitment where the person
has no choice, and no
freedom. It is a commitment
that teaches that the person
is not more than the property
of someone else.
2. There is the contract
commitment. This is a com
mitment that is based on
rules and regulations for
both sides. (The committed
person and the person that
commits him.) Once some of
the rules are broken the
commitment is also broken.
The children of Israel were
under that kind of commit
ment through the law. But in
the New Testament Paul ad

vises to avoid that kind of a
commitment. “Why do you
submit to regulations, do not
handle, do not taste, do not
touch.” Colossians 2:20,21.
3. There is the deal com
mitment. This is a commit
ment that is based on equal
contributions and services
between people. It is based
on paying back, the two are
equally committed to each
other, yet the deal is over if
one side fails in doing what
he is supposed to do.
4. There is the covenant
commitment. “You will be
mine and I will be yours”. A
commitment that is based on
the promise of love, like in
the relationship of God to his
people. It is a commitment
of self to the one who is love
and will never fail us. It is a
commitment that does not
demand obedience to rules
and regulations. It is a com
mitment that delights the
person in fulfilling it.
Christian commitment
therefore is: the production
of God’s love. We commit
ourselves to God not because
He is all powerful, the
master of everything, the
almighty one, the creator,
the judge of the judgment
day, but because he is love
and because he committed
himself first and on our
behalf to the death of the
cross. Our commitment is
not to pay back. We cannot
do it. It is not a contract, if it
is, we already broke the
regulations hundreds of
times.
Reign Of Jesus
Is Literal Truth
BY JIMMY BARNES
Sharon Baptist Church
When we speak on pro
phecy, people listen out of
curiosity mostly but it is just
human nature to want to
know the future. God’s word
gives us the future in minute
detail, it is simply up to us to
apply ourselves in study.
Which means giving up that
television and other things of
the world and giving the pro
per time to accept our Lord
which is his and that is all of
it. Also we must the Lord’s
word as it is and not try to
spiritualize what we don’t
understand. If you accept
the literal truth of the 1,000
year reign of Christ, then a
lot of things will begin to
clear up for you.
In Luke Chapter 1, verse 31-
32, an angel appeared to
Mary with those words: And
Behold thou shalt conceive in
thy womb and bring forth a
son and shalt call his name
Jesus. He shall be great and
shall be called the son of the
highest and the Lord God
shall give to him the throne
of his father David.
How much clearer could
this be. We know the birth of
Jesus was literal, we know
the Throne of David was
literal. Why spiritualize the
reign of Jesus.

Numbers
At one time David, one of
the great leaders of Israel,
showed he had lost faith in
God’s power to keep him
safe. He made an unwise
decision. He took a count of
his military strength. By
taking this census David was
checking his own strength.
He was not trusting God to
brace him in time of trouble.
He did not trust in the Lord
to save him, but felt more
comfortable keeping track of
the number of his men.
Churches sometime put
their confidence in numbers,
like this. They want large
congregations, full
schedules of busy programs.
They rely on attendance
charts, square footage of
buildings, and a full calen
dar. They want to be the
“Mostest with the Bestest.”
Quantity and bigness is what
they seek. They want to look
“Successful.” What these
churches are dealing with is
simply pride. “Success,” is
an earthly term. Un
fortunately, this does not
always honor God. He
measures success by a dif
ferent method.

We have the announce
ment much earlier in the
book of Isaiah Chapter 9:6-7,
for unto us (Israel) a child is
bom, unto us a son is given,
and the government shall be
upon his shoulder. And his
name shall be called wonder
ful, counselor, The mighty
God, the everlasting fattier.
The Prince of Peace. Of the
increase of his government
and peace there shall be no
end. Upon the throne of
David (a literal throne), and
upon his kingdom to order it
and to establish it with
justice and righteousness
from hence forth even for
evermore. The zeal of the
Lord of host will perform
this.
This has never yet been
fulfilled and is not now being
fulfilled in the church. This
is a definite promise to the
nation of Israel. The church
is the called out bride of
Christ with a promise of
heavenly blessings.
Look if you will at what
James says in Acts 15:14-16.
Symeon hath declared how
God first did visit the nations
to take out of them a people
for his name. This is the
church and you all will agree
to this. Now is verse 17 he
says, After this - repeat
after this (the calling out of a
tant to Christ. He said,
“Where two or three are
gathered together in my
name, there am I in the
midst of them.”
A church that spends most
of its time counting and
keeping track of heads and
programs, unfortunately,
does not have too much time
left for other things. God
gave specific directions to
take. Churches should pro
vide instruction to the
brethren in the whole of
God’s word, and application
of this wofd in evangelistic
efforts.
What the world needs is
not bigger churches with
lukewarm members. What is
needed is Spirit-inspired ser
vants of the Living God,
dedicated people with a
burden for reaching others.
This could be thousands of
people - or only two. The
quality is what is important.
Their purpose is to fulfill
Christ’s command with a
spiritually meaningful
outreach that glorifies Him.
This is the true Church.

people for his name - the
church). I will return and
will build again the taber
nacle of David which is
fallen down and I will build
again its ruins and I will set
it up. Does not this in itself
prove to us that the kingdom
of God is literal and that it
will be here on this earth.
Let me just make one
statement here and we will
get into the discussion later.
The kingdom of God is not
the same as the kingdom of
heaven. First of all we have
the church which is in the
kingdom of heaven which is
in the kingdom of God. Right
now I want you to see the
blessed reality of the millen
nial kingdom which will be
right here on earth.
Now when is the beginning
of the kingdom. Matt. 24:29-
30, Immediately after the
tribulation of these days,
shall the sun be darkened
and the moon shall not give
her light and the stars shall
fall from heaven and the
powers of heaven shall be
shaken; and then shall ap
pear the sign of the son of
man, in heaven: and then
shall all the tribes of the
earth move and they shall
see the son of man coming in
the clouds of heaven with
power and great glory.
When? Immediately after
the tribuation.
In numerous scripture his
coming is spoken of as the
humble servant - the suffer
ing one - this was fulfilled
literally in his life and death
on the cross. Now here is the
herald of the king in all his
glory. The deserving one for
while here on earth the first
time he proved his right to be
their king and then in resur
rection became the victor
over all, now he comes to
establish his trhone and
kingdome on this earth and
revelation 20 says that we
will live and reign with him a
1,000 years. You can
‘ spiritualize away this bless
ed truth if you want or you
can believe the Bible for
what it says. When you begin
to realize the truth in these
scriptures then will your
prayer be - even so, come
quickly Lord Jesus.
We will continue on this
subject next week.

| Gary Armes,
When God handed down
the Ten Commandments, He
dealt with man’s relation
ship with God and man’s
relationship with his
fellowman.
One of those command
ments deals with stealing. It
seems that God wants us to
respect the property and
possessions of others. Yet, it
seems more and more peo
ple are taking things that do
not belong to them. Home
burglaries are on the rise,
shoplifting is becoming an
increasingly serious pro
blem and many more people
are suspicious of others who
they think may “rip them
off”.
The problem seems to be
not only in our desire for
things, but also in a less
troubled conscience. Taking
things that belong to others
just doesn’t seem to bother a
lot of people any more.

would take what he wanted.
