KEEPING UP WITH THE
JONES. Nearly everyone
gives up when they hit a
Jones line, unless they have
a lot of good information to
start with. It gets so hard to
hunt and occasionally
transcribers of material will
read Jones as James and
vice versa. The following is
some indication of the Jones
in Forsyth County from start
to 1850 for those searchers
who have asked for it.
In 1840, on the census we
have Benjamin Jones,
Gilford W. Jones and
Thomas A. Jones. Benjamin
was bom in 1795 in Georgia,
and is married to Jane. He is
on Page 277. Gilford was
bom 1806 in Georgia and
Thomas A. was bom 1811 in
Ga. They married Bell
sisters and are on page 263.
We know that the same
period of time George
Welch’s wife, and Jacob
Scudder’s wife were Jones
girls. Diana Jones Scudder
was bom 1795 in Va. The
evidence indicates she was a
sister to Welch’s wife. Diana
and Jacob were married in
Ga., in 1812. We also know
Isaac Beachum’s wife was
Nancy Jones who was bom
inS.C.
The 1845 State Census
which was not of the co lete
county shows: Benjamin
page 5, Gilford page 17, John
page 26, Nancy page 14,
Russell page 14, and Seborn
page 17.
Between 1838 and 1850, we
have the following Jones
Marriages: Hiram to
Elizabeth Ann Hammond
1841, Azariah to Cynthia Hen
drix 1843, Gilford W. to
Lavinia Y. Bell 1844, Thomas
J. to Sarah Ann Bell 1845,
Seaborn to Agnes Allen 1845;
Caleb P. to Martha Adaline
Birdlß4s, Benjamin W. to
Mary Ann Brown 1846,

ONES... BUT SENSIBLY PRICED
WITH SNAPPER QUALITY, VERSATILITY AND POWER.
SNAPPER garden tractors were designed by agricultural
engineers with quality features like an inline drive train
for efficient power transfer and welded steel frames for
ruggedness. Another great feature is the ability to “quick
change” attachments so you take less time getting
ready and spend more time getting the work
done. You have the choice of gear, or
hydrostatic transmissions with “memory”;
manual or hydraulic lift systems; rear
power-take-off; 42”, 48” and 54" cutting
units; and 16 or 18 H.P. engines.
