United In Marriage

The flower girl, Miss Amy
Palmer, cousin of the bride,
and daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn Palmer, of Con
ley, Ga., wore a pastel-col
ored gown featuring tiered
capped sleeves, and a lay
ered skirt of five tiers falling
gently from a natural
waistline. The dress was
trimmed with burgundy rib
bon. She carried a white bas
ket of satin and lace filled
with silk burgundy roses,
pink camellias, baby’s
breath, fern leaves’ with
burgundy and pink satin
streamers.
Grady Hill served as his
son’s best man. The
groomsmen were Jimmy
Hill, Clarkston, cousin of the
groom; Ken Orr, Charlotte,
N. C.; Steve Samples, Benny
Samples and Bucky Walters,
all of Gainesville.
The groom and his
groomsmen, the bride’s fa
ther and brother, all wore
burgundy tuxedos with bur
gundy bowties. Their (Muti
neers were pink silk roses.
For her daughter’s wed
ding, Mrs. Oakes chose a
pale rose quiana floor-length
gown featuring a v-shaped
neckline, a bodice of gathers
falling softly from the shoul
ders, and a gathered skirt
tied at the waist with falling
softly from the shoulders

Her corsage was made of
five white silk roses with
pink ribbons.
Mrs. Hill chose a lavender
quiana floor-length gown
featuring a gathered neck
line, a blouson bodice and an
accordian pleated skirt. Her

Immediately following the
ceremony, a reception was
held in the church fellowship
hall.
Mrs. Linda Monkus of
Cumming kept the bride’s
book.

tion were Mrs. Vivian Mar
tin, of Cumming, Mrs. Jean

Southern Discount Company
in Cumming.
The future bridegroom is a
graduate of Johnson High
School and is employed by
Southern Discount Company
in Athens.
An outdoor wedding is
planned for Sept. 27,1980.

ding programs before the
ceremony began.
After a wedding trip to
Lake Hartwell, the couple
will reside in Newnan, Ga.
where the groom is em
ployed by Yokogawa Corp.
and the bride is employed by
the Coweta County Board of
Education.

Reading Club Finishes
The Forsyth County Li
brary’s Vacation Reading
Club ended Aug. 15, with 592
school-age participants
reaching or surpassing their
reading goal.
Librarian Jean Potts says
that certificates will be
awarded to the readers at
their respective schools in
October.
A plain certificate will be
awarded to those who read
the exact number of books
they said they would read.
Those who went over their
goal will receive a certifi
cate with a gold star.
All readers were allowed
to set their own goals. Those
children who are not yet able
to read listed books that
were read to them.
All participants were en
couraged to read on their
level, according to Ms.
Potts.
A total of 751 joined the
