FOOD LABEL
A food container’s label
not only lists the contents,
but it lists them in order of
their predominance, or
volume. In other words, if
there is more sugar in the
product than any other in
gredient, sugar would be
listed first.
Coupon Clipper
Deck Halls With Refund Offers
By JANE FULLER
The holiday season is just
around the corner, but there
is still time to use your re
funding to provide some
lovely surprises for friends
and relatives.
With so many manufactur
ers offering gifts in return
for proofs of purchase, it
isn’t hard to find something
special for everyone on your
shopping list. I try to come
up with presents for every
one who has helped me with
my couponing and refunding
during the year.
Instead of writing my own
name on the refund form, I
simply fill in the name and
address of the person who is
to receive the gift. So,
there’s no sales tax, wrap
ping or postage to bother
with.
But the best part is receiv
ing those telephone calls
around holiday time.
“Did you send me that
pretty stationery with my
name and address printed

This ear br i n .9 j°y to tbe homemaker. Buy an energy-efficient gas appliance now and have it installed in time
for holiday use. With these appliances you’ll not only save money on the purchase price, you’ll save energy too. One

Honimlgns. You con depend on It today and tomorrow-
on it?” my neighbor might
ask.
“Was that backpack that
Eddie received from you,
Jane?” my sister might in
quire.
Perhaps it’s all the gues
sing about the identity of the
giver. At any rate, these
gifts seem to be remem
bered the longest.
I also find good ways to
use my cash-off coupons for
holiday gifts.
Last year, I gave Margo, a
new mother, a coupon wallet
that I had stuffed full of
baby-product coupons. Su
san, who had moved into the
old house down the street,
received an oven mitt that I
had filled with all kinds of
coupons for cleaning prod
ucts.
There are a few gift offers
for which I use my own
name and address. These
are toys that I give to the
home for retarded children.
There’s something won
derful about finding these
toys in my mailbox, because
I know how happy they will
make some very special
children.
Here are some refund of
fers that you can use for
your gift giving. Since none
requires a refund form, just
mail in the required proofs
of purchase along with a
note on which you have
clearly printed the name
and address of the person
who is to receive the gift.
