Building specifications
have been completed for the
hew George Wilson Clinic fa
cility to be located on High
way 20 approximately one
mile west of the square in
Cumming.
The clinic will soon adver
tise for bids, with a bid open
ing planned for after Dec. 7,
according to Edna Foster,
vice-president of the board
of directors.
The new building will have
about twice the space of the
current facility, a trailer lo
cated on Highway 19, south
of Cumming.
Ms. Foster explained that
the new site will give the
clihic a more central loca
tion with proximity to the
Forsyth County Hospital.
The specifications call for
a 1,965 square foot building
With three cedar sides and a
stone facade which will face
Highway 20.
A winding drive will lead

which will be situated on a
hill. The grounds will be well
Voice Of People
Positive
Trend Is
Seen Now
To the Editor:
The Forsyth County Re
publican Party thanks all
the voters who participated
in the Nov. 4 general elec
tion. It was evident that the
voters were selective. They
waited in long lines at the
polls for the opportunity to
choose one candidate over
another. Few adhered to
party lines.
We do want to stress the
importance of a strong two
party political system that
provides voters with clear
alternatives. This is imper
ative for the survival of our
system of government.
Without belaboring all the
reasons for the outcome of
the election, we do see a pos
itive conservative trend.
Too, we believe that voters
are maturing politically; no
longer will a politcian be
elected to office simply be
cause of his party affiliation.
Each vote does indeed
make a difference. How
ever, interest must be main
tained in government and
the political process. Contin
ued interest will help ensure
that elected officials remain
responsible in their duties.
More importantly, it will in
sure that they remain re
sponsive to the voters.

trees left as possible, said
Mrs. Foster.
The interior of the building
will include a large lobby
with two double-wide corri

the building. Between the
corridors will be a records
area and a medical lab.
The building will also con
tain two offices, a work
room, a break room and
three examining rooms.
One of the examining
rooms will be decorated on a
children’s theme so that
children will feel comfort

Talking Taxes
You Can Amend Tax
Return 3 Years Later
By DENNIS HITCHMAN
One day, as you’re leafing
through the newspaper get
ting generally depressed,
your eye catches a glimpse
of the word TAX. You suspi
ciously look a little closer to
see just how the IRS is going
to squeeze a bit more out of
you and surprise the ar
ticle is about a deduction
that you forgot to claim on
your tax return for the last
umteen years.
You now have two clear
cut choices. You can either
forget about the missed de
duction and chalk it up to ex
perience, or you can do the
most logical thing, which is
to amend your return.

Amending a tax return is
really no big deal. You use
Form 1040 X to correct a
prior year’s mistake.
Whether you used the long
form or the short one for
your original return doesn’t
matter. You still use Form
1040 X.
Generally, you have three
years after your original re
turn was filed to make the
amendment. So, if you made
a mistake on your 1977,1978
and 1979 tax returns, you
still have chance to change
all three. Sometimes, if you
meet some special condi
tions, you can go back even
farther. For most of us, how
ever, we are out of luck after
THE FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS-WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19,1980-
three years.
It will probably take two
or three months for the IRS
to process your return. Do
not dispair, though, because
the IRS will actually pay in
terest on your refund. On
Feb. 1,1980, the rate went up
to 12 percent, and that is pre
tty good considering that
you left off the deduction to
begin with. And don’t forget
that when you amend your
federal return, your state re-

A common misconception
among taxpayers is that if
you amend your return, you
will automatically be audi

idea came from, but the
originator of the myth
should be writing fairy tales.

you might be audited.
