Miss Hamby is a graduate
of Forsyth County High
School. She received an asso
ciate degree in early child
hood education from
Gainesville Junior College
and is presently attending
North Georgia College in
Dahlonega where she is
working toward a bachelor’s
degree in early childhood
education.
Miss Hamby has been
named to the dean’s list at

Stevie Mills Named On
College Dean’s List
An area student has been
named to the winter quarter
dean’s list at Southern Tech
nical Institute in Marietta.
To qualify for the honor, a
student must maintain a 3.5
or better scholastic point av
erage on a 4.0 scale, and be
enrolled full-time.
Included on the list is Ste
vie P. Mills. Stevie is an
Architecutral Engineering
Technology (AET) major.

‘Li’l Abner’
Has Openings
The Forsyth County little
Theatre is now preparing for
its summer production of
“Li’l Abner," a musical
comedy about young love,
Sadie Hawkins Day and a
small town, "Dogpatch,
U.S.A.”
According to representa
tives with the little Theatre,
there are still several cast
openings available. And peo
ple are still needed to work
behind the scenes.
Rehearsals are currently
being held on Monday nights
at Cumming United Method
ist Church and on Tuesday
and Thursday nights in the
Cumming Elementary
School gymnasium.
All rehearsals begin at 7
p.m. Babysitting services
are available during re
hearsals and performances

Over the next two weeks
most of Georgia’s nearly one
million public school stu
dents will put away their
books and leave school be
hind for the summer.
The last day for most
school systems was sched
uled this week or last week.
The last system to close for
the summer is DcKalb
County, which closes June 10
for students.
One group of students
won’t return when schools

the first time next fall
either kindergarten or first
grade. To enter a public
school kindergarten, a child
must be five years old by
Sept. 1, and to enter first
grade, a child must be six by
Sept. 1. To start school, chil
dren must also have birth
certificates and proofs of im
munization against seven
diseases.
