Safe Boating
Week Is Set
This is National Safe Boat
ing Week and what a better
place to celebrate such a
week than in Forsyth
County.
With Lake Lanier all
around us we must make
ourselves more aware of
boat safety. Each lake sea
son we read and hear about
boating accidents that result
in injury and death. Often,
these accidents could have
been avoided if advance
safety measures had been
taken.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary
is offering a “FREE” boat
safety examination on Satur
day, June 6 and Saturday
June 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at
Bald Ridge Marina and Holi
day Marina, Lockheed Long-
Hollow and many other
areas on the lake during this
week.

This examination is free
and between the operater
and the examiner. No re
ports will be given to law
inforcement if your boat
does not meet requirements.
The examiner will advise the
owner/operator of items
needed to meet require
ments both for the safety of
his guest and his own well
being.
We encourage all boaters
to take time out to have their
boats examined. We also
hope boaters will use all
safety measures while out on
the lake.
Respect the rules of the
water and watch out for oth
ers. Boating is fun but don’t
let a needless accident ruin
this fun.
Observe National Safe
Boating Week and enjoy the
summer months ahead.

Brannon, not pictured, was first in his division with a 300-

asked to meet at the courthouse in the jury room on

Water Skiing
Safety Tips
Water skiing activity is
still increasing on our local
lakes, especially on crowded
weekends and holidays.
Skiing can be safe if the
skier wears a Coast Guard
approved personal flotation
device (PFD) and if the skip
per of the boat is alert and
skilled.
Here are a few tips recom
mended by the Coast Guard
Auxiliary to help insure the
fun of water skiing:
