Christ’s Resurrection

Presbyterian Church
(PART U)
Third, the glory of Christ’s
resurrection is expressed in
the life it provides to those
who believe it. It is the
source of the spiritual life of
faith and of obedience. Paul
said, “If ye died with Christ,
ye also live in his rising
again.”
We have, here, the indica
tion of the kind of response
we should have in
relationship to what Christ
had done for us. Our life
should be a life of faith and
obedience to him.
1- resurrection of
Christ is a visible revelation
of the same energy which
works in the hearts of all
believers (the power of the
Holy Spirit).
2- energy is imparted
to the believer. It became
his. “We are risen with
Him.”
3- energy should en
able us to endure the suffer
ings which are laid upon us
in this life.
Fourth, the glory of
Christ’s resurrection is ex
pressed in the fact that it is

Jesus told a parable about
a man whose land brought
forth such an abundant crop
that his bams could not hold
it. So he decided to tear them
down, build bigger ones, and
he said to himself, “Now I
can relax. I’ll eat, drink, and
be merry.” But that night
God’s voice came and said,
“You fool, this very night
you will die.”
After reading this parable,
we can raise some serious
questions in our lives. One
would be, “Am I finding in
life the truly important
things?”

It is not a coincidence that
Easter comes every year in
the springtime. Sometimes
in March, sometimes in
April, and sometimes in
May, but always in the
Spring. It is as if God. de
sires to express the meaning
of Easter in a language that
we can understand, in things
that we can see and touch.
What a glorious idea! It is
during this time of the year
that we are aware of the
resurrection of a seed that
was buried in the ground
during the fall. It is during
this time of the year that we
are deeply appreciative of
the new and colorful bodies
that the branches of trees
are covered with, as if to
remind us of the new bodies
we will obtain at the day of
our resurrection.
It is during this time of the
year that the fragrance of
plants makes it possible for
us to witness the sweet smell
of the blooming of the resur
rected Christ in our hearts

caught in the “someday syn

owner’s mistake. Not only
was he being selfish, but just
as he was getting ready to
live, he heard a voice, “You

The things that make for
joy and happiness in our
lives are not down the road
or over the next hill, and
they are not found in all our
material things, but in
friends, family, our health,
and our church. The time to

Baptist Trustees
Sell Inn Land
The trustees of Georgia
Baptist Homes, Inc., have
simultaneously sold the
Peachtree on Peachtree Inn
property in downtown At
lanta, and purchased the Sa
fari Inn property located at
1-75 and Hudson Bridge Rd.
in Henry County, according
to an announcement by Dr.
Monroe F. Swilley, Atlanta,
chairman of the trustees.
Negotiations for the trans
action were made on behalf
of the trustees by Dr. Searcy
S. Garrison, emeritus exec
utive secretary of the
Georgia Baptist Convention
and interim administrator of
the Georgia Baptist Homes.
J.M. Crawford, of Ackerman
and Company, represented
the purchaser of the Peach
tree on Peachtree Inn prop
erty, while the Safari Inn
property was purchased
from the Life of Georgia.
Peachtree on Peachtree
Inn has been operated as a
home for retired people
since the property was given
by the Beazley Foundation of
Norfolk, Virginia, to the
Georgia Baptist Convention
for this prupose in 1967. The
ministry conducted at
Peachtree on Peachtree Inn
will be continued at the new
Safari Inn location. A sched
ule has not been completed,
but it is anticipated that the
move will take place before
the end of the year.
Georgia Baptist Homes,
Inc., is a not for profit insti
tution through which the
Georgia Baptist Convention
ministers to elderly people.
In addition to the personal
care ministry conducted at
the Peachtree on Peachtree
Inn, a ministry is conducted
in the Paces Ferry Apart
ment complex on East Paces
Ferry Road in the Buckhead
area of Atlanta. Over three
hundred-fifty persons are in
residence at the two loca
tions.
The Rev. Gordon Hunter is
manager of the Peachtree on
Peachtree Inn and will con
tinue as the administrative
officer in the new location.
The Rev. John Ashley, Jr., is
manager of Paces Ferry
Apartment ministry.
According to Dr. Garrison,
the Safari Inn property, lo
cated on five acres of land, is
well situated for the opera
tion and development of an
institution dedicated to the
ministry of elderly people.
The location will be conve
nient for residents and their
families and for the
churches in the area to par
ticipate in the ministry pro
vided by Georgia Baptist
Homes.

Sure you do once in a

You might be suffering
from depression caused by

you’ve just had a real “high”

You’re not alone by any

haven’t let yourself express

“heaviness” in his bones and

He too was experiencing de

wanted to “fly away” on
occassion and get away from
his troubles. Sometimes we
have to do that to survive.
