Hang On To All Those
Old Cereal Box Tops
Dear Coupon Clipper: My
favorite breakfast-cereal
company recently started
printing proof-of-purchase
seals on the sides of its ce
real boxes.
I still have a lot of the
company’s box tops in my
collection, and I wonder
whether they will ever again
be required as a proof of
purchase. Nadine from Port
Washington, Wis.
Dear Nadine: I suggest
continuing to save the box
tops unless you are short of
storage space. It isn’t un
usual for a manufacturer to
require different proofs of
purchase for its various of
fers.
The company may request
proof-of-purchase seals for
the offer that it makes next
month but then request box
tops for the offer that it
makes six months from now.
The only way to be certain
that you will have the cor
rect proofs for future offers
is to save everything.
Dear Coupon Clipper: I
always have difficulty hand
ling my coupons at the
checkout counter. This is
embarrassing. Do you have

any advice that can help
me? Suzy from Center
Square, Pa.
Dear Suzy: First, get your
self a coupon wallet from a
variety store. Each time you
go shopping put all the cou
pons that you expect to use in
to the wallet.
As you find each item for
which you have a coupon,
separate its coupon from the
others and move it into an
other part of the wallet.
When you reach the check
out line, all the coupons for
the items that you have se
lected will be grouped in one
part of the wallet.
As you wait in line, ar
range the coupons in order of
their value, lowest to high
est. Count the number of
coupons and total their value
on your shopping list.
As you unload your pur
chases on the checkout coun
ter, put the items for which
you have coupons at the
front closest to the cashier.
Ask the cashier not to start
ringing up your purchases
until you have placed all of
the items on the counter and
handed over your coupons.
Then tell the cashier the
health department and se
cure necessary immuniza
tions to bring them up to
date.
This will provide time for
any needed shots that are
required before school be
gins.
This special clinic July 17,
1981 at 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. will
help to prevent last minute
rush in complying with this
new law.
Immunizations are given
and records assessed each
Tuesday between the hours
of 9 to 11 and 1 to 4. The
special clinic will be held
July 15, 1981, at 9 a.m. to 8
p.m. at the Forsyth County
Health Department.
