Earl Bonds, regional director for
Brookwood, who was present at last
Thursday night’s meeting, told the au

the same agreement that you signed
with Brookwood.”
Authority members also received,
but postponed approval of, the fiscal
1980 financial audit. (Four of the au
thority’s nine voting members were not
present at the meeting.)
The audit showed a loss for the year
of $73,979. Business office manager
Joyce Lindsey attributed this to “in
creased appreciation from the renova

• Learned that Gresham and Smith,
architects of Birmingham, Ala.’ had
accepted the authority’s final payment
for services for the hospital’s renova
tion and construction project completed
last year.
Gresham and Smith had requested
approximately $40,000 as final pay
ment, but the authority chose to reduce
this amount by $12,000 to $28,000 be
cause of a disagreement concerning the
hospital’s emergency generator and
other matters.
• Learned that there have been 72
births at the hospital so far this year.
“If we continue at this rate,” said
Brandon, “we’re going to be well ahead
of last year.” There were 104 total
births at the hospital in 1980.
