Job Satisfaction At The Chamber
To the Editor:
Much is heard nowadays
about “job satisfaction.”
Companies place increasing
emphasis on developing pos
itive attitudes in their em
ployees and employees in
turn make “job satisfaction”
rather than just wages a
matter of importance.
I want to report that there
is at least one employee
whose rating of his job satis
faction is about as high as
it’s possible to get and that’s

All Coach's Wives
Should Be Saluted
To the Editor:
As the wife of a coach and
one who speaks from first
hand experience, I would
like to take the time out and
salute all the rest of the
coaches wives.
Last week, as I prepared
supper, night after night
only for it to become cold
while waiting for my hus
band who was late— I had a
lot of time to think.
My first impulse was to
feel sorry for him (the
coach) who worked 36 hours
after school last week in foot
ball related activities. Other
than football practice, there
are meetings, meetings and
more meetings. (Booster
club, coaches meetings and
scouting reports). They
watch films and study plays
and spend time scouting
other teams. However, as I
patiently rewarmed the cold

your truly!
In February I took the
position as executive direc
tor of your Chamber of Com
merce knowing exactly
nothing about being a cham
ber executive. After almost
36 years of trying to figure
out how and where to build
automobiles this was quite a
change. In my automotive
career, satisfaction came
from solving problems, in
venting things and obtaining
increased responsibility. In
supper, night after night, cut
my grass, sat in the rain to
watch his team-I decided
there was a person more
dedicated than a coach...the
coaches wife!
The coach has motivation
to keep him going. He loves
sports, he loves to coach and
most important he loves to
work with the kids.
But the wife must live on
understanding, patience and
absolutely no reward. I won
der if there will ever be a
sports banquet where the
athletes or boosters clubs
will give plaques to the wives
for being dedicated to the
practice of giving up their
husbands for the season.
Probably Not!
In truth my reward comes
in seeing how excited my
husband is when his team

the success of the corpora

was very satisfying.
So what gives satisfaction
to a Chamber of Commerce
executive director? Well,
again it’s a feeling of con
tributing to something. Now
it’s a county that we were
smart enough to choose and
lucky enough to live in.
Now, you might be saying

There’s Way To Clean

To the Editor:
We, the Northeast Georgia
Council on Moral Affairs, a
citizens group sponsored by

not believe in censorship
that is prior restraint. Also,
we do believe in free ex

is not a license to do what
one pleases without regards
to what it will do to others
now and in the future.
We see a breaking down of
the family in America,
which is one of the main
pillars of society ordained by
God, because of the in
creased sexual freedom and
permissiveness. “The fam

ancient of all the institutions
and it remains the funda
mental social unit in every
society.” (There is evidence
such as:) “the soaring di

uted that makes you so all
fired satisfied with yourself
and your job? Well I’m going
to tell you (whether you
asked or not). In a way this
is sort of a public report to
all my bosses the citizens
of Forsyth County.
Naturally one of the high
points is helping to attract
new, high-quality industry to
our community. Now there
are some citizens who hon
estly think this isn’t a good
thing for us, but let’s look at
tematives, proves that the
family has become the vic
tim of moral decay.” (John
Palen, Social Problems).
Moreover, pornography is a
nihilistic annulment of civili
zation.
Although pornography has
many defenders, it has no
defense. Pornography is not
protected by the constitution
of the United States, it is a
crime against society. Por
nography is sinful and evil.
Therefore, the main opposi
tion to pornography is be
cause it violates our
traditional moral teachings
and values “which are em
bodied in our Judeo-Chris
tian heritage.” This
violation “will undermine
our society and all the good
and decent things it stands
for, such as the family, re
spect for marriage, love
rather than lust, respect for
the human body, respect for
women and men and respect
for children.” (Jacques Thi
rous, Ethics).
So far, the churches and
decent law abiding citizens
and public officials have re
fused to help those in For
syth County who love their
country and want to remove
pornography.
Forsyth County is the only
county we have asked to
come and help that refused
to respond. Does this mean
that the citizens of Forsyth
County want their children’s
minds poisoned by this filth,
which pornography is almost
always connected with orga
nized crime which produces
drugs, alcohol, prostitution
and many other sordid
things that will corrupt and
destroy a community?
I close with a personal

just one statistic (you know
how engineers even ex
engineers like numbers).
In 1981 our existing indus

the property taxes in this
county over $400,000. Also
in these days of $1.25 gaso

commute to DeKalb, Fulton
or wherever to work, so in
creased job opportunities
right here in Forsyth County
are going to save lots of
workers lots of money which
message and plea. As a min
ister of God, I have warned
the people of Forsyth County
of the impending dangers of
not getting involved to fight
against pornography. I have
preached the Word of God,
and the people (not every
one) have refused to receive
it. God has been speaking to
me and now as I write this, I
feel moved of the Holy Spirit
to give the warning of Jesus:
“And whosoever shall not
receive you, nor hear your
words, when ye depart out of
that house or city, shake off
the dust of your feet. Verily I
say unto you, it shall be more
tolerable for the land of So
dom and Gomorrha in the
day of Judgment, than for
that city. (Matthew 10:14,
15).
So, dear people of Forsyth
County, God has given you
ways to clean up and protect
your county. The decision is
yours— what will your an
swer be? My prayer is that
you will accept God and His
Holy Word and that we
might join hearts and hands
and work for a clean and
decent Forsyth County and
for the preservation of
America, one nation under
God indivisible with liberty
and justice for all, so that
our children and grandchil

and freedoms that we have.

THE FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS—WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1982-
becomes disposable income
to be spent here.
There are two alternatives
to industrial growth. One is
no-growth. But, believe me,
with our natural attractions
and the easy access of Ga.
400 this just isn’t in the
cards. The other alternative
is to be a “bedroom commu
nity.” Now in all my indus
trial career I have never
seen, or even heard of, a
factory whose end product
was a child needing an edu
cation. But, by definition,
that’s what a “bedroom
community” will have lots
of. I’ll sneak in two more
statistics over 80 percent
of your tax dollars goes for
your schools and they are 79
percent full. Right Now!
Makes you think, doesn’t it?
Another great source of
satisfaction is being able to
help our local businesses.
Recently within an hour I
was able to help four Forsyth
County companies. Two
wanted something done and
two were able to do it and at
favorable prices. That keeps
those dollars flowing within
the county.
There are other sources of
satisfaction such as: meet
ing a lot of nice and interest
ing people, the growing
awareness (by others) of
Cumming and Forsyth
County as a great place in
which to work and live; if I
went into detail on them this
might get boring, which I
hope it isn’t already.
In looking back at what
I’ve written, maybe it
sounds more than a bit
smug, so I’ll repeat a request
that I’ve made many times
in recent months. For good
ness sakes, if you see that
satisfied Chamber of Com
merce executive doing
something wrong or stupid,
please take a minute of your
valuable time and straighten
him out. It’ll humble him a
bit. He will probably still be
satisfied, but the chances
are you will be too.
Thanks for reading this.
