20 Permits Issued This Year For Buildings
Forsyth County’s rapid growth has led to the issue of permits
for 20 new industrial and commercial buddings this year.
According to a report by Planning Director Lanier Bannis
ter, the 20 buddings are valued at $1,975,000. Valued the
highest are the new locations of Graphic Systems, Inc.,
$600,000; and Kenco Alloy and Chemical Company, $558,400.
The estimated cost of construction for the new Kenco
budding, however, is higher at $600,000 than for any
other budding. Second in estimated construction costs is
Graphic Systems, at $280,000. A chart prepared by Bannister

projects approved and
funded by the agency this
week, VA Administrator
Robert P. Nimmo has an
nounced.
The administrator said the
new projects are supported
for up to five years with VA
research funds in excess of
$2 million, and were selected
from proposals submitted by
individual investigators
working in VA medical cen
ters across the country. The
scientists responded to a re
quest for new research pro
posals issued by VA Medical
Research Service, which
specified a biochemical, psy
siological or toxicological fo

The VA chief pointed out
that the projects primarily
involve animal studies, but
human tissue cultures will
be analyzed in some of the
experiments. Specific ap
proaches range from behav
ioral observation of
laboratory animals exposed
to the defoliants used in Viet
nam, to biochemical studies
of fat metabolism.
The medical centers
where the new studies will
take place are: Alburquer
que, NM; Baltimore, MD;
Lexington, KY; Madison and
Wood, WI; San Francisco,
Sepulveda, and Wadsworth,
CA: Washington, DC; and
White River Junction, VT.
Appointed
Republican gubernatorial
candidate, Senator Bob Bell,
has announced the appoint
ment of Betsy Evans as For
syth County Coordinator for
the Bob Bell for Governor
Campaign. Ms. Evans will
be responsible for organizing
support and coordinating all
political activities in Forsyth
County. She has worked for
the Senator Mack Mattingly
campaign, President Rea
gan’s campaign and many
local campaigns in Forsyth
County. Ms. Evans is cur-,
rently vice-chairwoman of
the Forsyth County Young
Republicans and committee
woman for the Forsyth
County Republican Party.

The buddings with the highest values, and the individuals or
companies to which permits for those buddings were issued,
include a warehouse 5337,500, for Creative Fixtures; a
retad store 5250,000, for James Hendrix; an industrial
budding 5210,800, for Continental Concrete; an industrial
budding 5200,000, for J. D. Loved; a cabinet shop 5160,-
000, for Wheeler’s Cabinet Shop; and a machine shop 5135,-
900, for D. F. Industries. Ad other buddings for which
permits were issued last year are valued at below SIOO,OOO.

night recently to get the sign
up and two days later the

est store.
Kennedy said the old store
will remain open and will
carry a line of health and
beauty aids. He said the new
store houses the Revco phar
macy and a lot of items the
other store didn’t have room
for.
Revco’s new store hours
will be from 9 a.m. until 9
p.m. Monday through Satur
day and from 1 p.m. until 6
p.m. on Sundays.
The old Revco store will be
open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Monday through Saturday
and will be closed on Sun
days.
