Medical servives to prison
ers is a future plan to be
A.M.A. certified.
6. The Compensation for
Jurors shall remain un
changed at $20.00 and bai
liffs' compensation is set at
$35.00 per day.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. We, the Grand Jury,
sent a committee to check on
certain schools for condi
tions and recommend that
the roofs of several schools
be repaired or replaced as
quickly as possible. The Ot
well Middle Grade School
should receive top priority.
The high school gymnasium
is also in need of roof re
pairs. We recommend that
the forthcoming Grand Jury
follow this investigation to
see what steps have been
taken to correct and improve
the situatiop.
2. Due to our two Judges of
the Blue Ridge Judicial Cir
cuit handling a caseload
equal to more than three we
recommend that our Rep
resentatives make every ef
fort to secure a third judge
for this District.
3. We, the Grand Jury of
said County, recommend
that more citizens, when
having complaints, would
write letters to Court
Judges, Representatives and
Congressmen about their
concerns.
4. We recommend that the
District Attorney, whenever
possible, revise his present
system of indictment presen
tations to one that would
have cases prepared and
typed for Grand Jury inves
tigation prior to the conven
ing of Grand Jury.
5. We recommend that the
next Grand Jury include in
formative presentations
from other political subdivi
sions in the County units
such as the various City of
Cumming units and the U.S.
Army Corp of Engineers,
and that this recommenda
tion be included in charges to
future Grand Juries.
6. We recommend that the
excellent background and in
structive information sup
plied to the Grand Jury by
the Judges of the Blue Ridge
Circuit Court be further im
proved by adding detail in
formation as to actual
services available to aid the
Grand Jury in their investi
gations and the steps that
can be taken as to how these
services can be obtained.
7. We recommend chang
ing the due date of property
tax payment from Decem
ber to June.
8. We recommend that our
State Representatives give
serious consideration to
changing Georgia Statutes in
the case of repetitive offend
ers or habitual violators to
include confiscation of the
vehicles involved. The num
ber of these serious cases
are increasing, demanding
many man hours of the law
enforcement and judicial
systems, and yet seem to be
taken lightly by violators
based on the volume of such
cases being made.
This 7th day of February,
1983.
Respectfully submitted,
JAMES T. COOTS, FORE
MAN.
