lanta in 1982.

Alloy and Chemical Com
pany, Inc., relocated to For
syth County. Last year, 163
new companies announced
relocation plans.

Work on Cumming’s new Shoney’s Restaurant, located in Tri-County Plaza,
is progressing on schedule, according to company officials. Depending on
the unpredictable winter weather, the restaurant should be completed and

Up Over Last Year
The number of building
permits issued last month
was up when compared to
January, 1982, but down
when matched against the
December, 1982 figures.
The planning department
issued 31 total permits last
month, with a valuation of
$1,483,920. There were 23 to
tal permits issued in 1982,
with a valuation of
$1,036,500; and 28 permit is
sued in 1982, with a valuation
of $1,879,360.
There were more permits
issued for single-family
homes (17) than for any
other types of buildings.
Those permits carried a val
uation of $1,189,500.

of relocating firms. “In a
recessionary year, it shows
that the Atlanta area is still
attractive to business. We
expect more new firms com
ing here as a result of the
new Forward Metro Atlanta
marketing campaign.”
Again, the trend continues
that Metro Atlanta still at-
covered by those permits
and the valuations of those
buildings are as follows:

works and utilities buildings,
one permit, $300; stores and
other mercantile buildings,
two permits, $114,400; struc
tures other than buildings,
one permit, $59,500; resi

mits, $78,220; residential
garages, two permits,
$7,200; and other buildings
and structures, four permits,
$47,400.
The number of mobile
home permits issued last
month was 30, which was up
control and revegetation,
was presented to Martin
Marietta by the Associated
Landscape Contractors of
America during its 13th an
nual convention in Miami,
Fla. Thirteen other awards
were made in the fields of
commercial and residential
landscaping and interior de
sign.

Receipts from the 31 per
mits issued last month total
led $1,572.57. Other total
receipts included electrical
permits, $1,231.10; plumbing
permits, $559.50; heating
permits, $313; mobile home
permits, $659.35; and regis
tration fees, $770. Total plan
ning department receipts for
last month came to $6,441.67.
The planning department
is a non-profit department
and its receipts are turned
over each month to the board
of commissioners.
