FORSYTH COUNTY NEWS—SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, IW
Fall softball league
offering excitement
The Forsyth County Park and
Recreation Department’s Fall
Softball League is halfway Into its
ISM season and there certainly has
boon tome writing softball {day so
far and I’m sure there’s more in
store.
There are teams of high ability and
average ability, but all involved seem
to have struck a balance between
winning and playing the game for
leisure (if you can imagine seven
hard innings of ball leisure)
enjoyment.
There are teams which have won
moat or all their games, and there are
other who have lost all of them, but
both play hard there are no
quitters in the league.
As our parks and programs
continue to develop and grow, we
hope to offer leagues which vary in
degree of skill and experience. This
will encourage more involvement as
well as provide for the opportunity for
more teams to participate. Continue
to watch the paper for upcoming
programs in your area...
We are currently offering
gymnastics programs for children
ages three to 14 at Big Creek
Elementary School. Classes are
offered on Mondays and Tuesdays
from 5 until 9 p.m.
The Monday night classes are
almost full and we are now Ln the
process of filling the Tuesday classes.
Head instructor Rick York plans to
develop a competitive gymnastics
team as participants become ready.
If your children are interested,
please contact us (or our answering
machine) at 887-6701. If you wish, you
may register for the classes at Big
Creek on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The
school is located on Hwy. 141 south of
Ga. 400...
Continue to organize your mixed
volleyball teams the tentative
beginning date of the league is Nov.

We have already had some

This past week, I have been so
involved with finishing die grading at
Midway Park that I have honestly not
had much time to devote to this
column. Two nights this week we had
to use flashlights to set survey stakes
in an attempt to stay ahead of our
grading crew.
When the landscape architect, Don
Canupp, of Ayres Associates, first
came to the park to orient the men
into the total construction concept of
the park, he brought me a luge bottle
of aspirin. I thought he was Joking,
but I am having second and even
third thoughts now.
This week, as we near completion,
he brought me something else that
made me feel as though everything
has developed as it should.
It reads: “The Six Phases of a
Project”
Enthusiasm
Disillusionment
Panic
Search for the guilty
Punishment of the innocent
Praise and honors for the non
participants
I think we are at about the sixth
phase now. Just give me another
large bottle of aspirin and point out
the next project. (Just kidding!)
