In its regular meeting Tuesday, the
Forsyth County Planning Commis

rezoning of 24.62 acres at the intersec

shopping center is to be located.
? The rezoning, from A (Agricul

Bethelview Road Corporation.
According to a spokesman, the firm
hopes to attract a supermarket to the

the planning commission also rec

Proposed restrictions for a subdivi

Baaed on that concern for the welfare of

The News advertising director,

are working on the project. Deadline

the subdivision in which they reside,

to VCR (Vacation Cottages—Re
stricted).
John Carter told the planning com
mission that 36 of the subdivision’s 66
lots were vacant, meaning there was
the "potential for a lot of mobile
homes" under the VC classification.
Carter presented the planning com
mission with a petition bearing the
names of 25 people in favor of the
VCR classification, which restricts
mobile homes.
Chestatee Heights was formed
from land belonging to the A.D.
Pierce estate, and the administrator
of that estate, Herman Pierce, voiced
opposition to the rezoning.
Pierce felt the VC classification
should be maintained because mobile
homes are the only type of housing
which some individuals can afford.
He also charged that Carter, who
was seeking a classification which
prevents mobile homes, has lived in a
mobile home for the last2o years.
Following comments by Carter and
Pierce, verbal exchanges broke out
between residents favoring the rezon
ing and those opposing it.
Dennis Martin, chairman of the
planning commission, told the resi
dents that the main issue being con
sidered at the meeting was the
rezoning, and that arguing could be
done at home, after the meeting.

The fees were among several items dis

In other action, the board voted to increase
the charge of their directory from $2 to $3

The board also appointed member Hugh

Comments by concerned citizens on
excessive growth in south Forsyth
County preceded a recommendation
of denial for a proposed expansion of
Rolling wood Mobile Home Park.
Rollingwood Associates, I Ad. was
seeking to rezone 35.568 acres from R
-1 (Residential—Single-Family), A
and HB to R-4 (Mobile Home Park),
increasing the size of the park from
194 to 212 lots.
Residents opposing the rezoning
pointed to overcrowded conditions at
Midway Elementary School on
Georgia 9 south, which serves chil
dren in the park, and to the "fleet" of
buses already required just to trans
port children from the park to school.
Six other rezonlngs were recom
mended for approval Tuesday by the
planning commission.
The individuals or corporations
seeking those rezonings, and the
amounts and locations of tracts in
volved, are as follows:
• Curtis and Barbara Thompson, VC to
R 3 (Residential— Multi Family), 3.04
acres on Mary Alice Park Road, tor con

• S.S. McDonald, VC to VCR, Deer Creek

Jan. 17 was selected because it is an

students would spend the majority of
