host hopefuls
The Chattahoochee Homemak
ers’ Club will meet Wednesday,
Oct. 17, at 1 pm. in the homemak
er’s clubhouse, next to the sher
iff’s department.
Scheduled speakers are female
candidates in this year’s local
elections, including Anne White
and Hilda Thomas, Forsyth
County Board of Education, Post
5; and Reva Jennings, District 10,
Georgia House of Representa
tives.
Patsy Young
on Pickens list
Patsy Young has been named to
the director’s list at the Pickens
Area Vocational-Technical School
for summer quarter.
Patsy is a fulltime student in the
business education program.
According to Director Tom Har
rison, to be named to the director’s
list, a student must maintain an
average of 93 to be enrolled full
time in a program of study leading
to a diploma.
Islands leaf festival set Oct. 20-21
An old-fashioned, clogging hoe
down will be featured during the Lake
Lanier Islands Autumn Leaf Days
Festival to be held Oct. 20 and 21.
Clogging by more than 30 groups
from throughout the Southeast will be
scheduled from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.

fun run, immediately followed by a
10K road race. Race events will be
conducted by the Atlanta Marine
Reserves for the benefit of the
Georgia Special Olympics.
Entry fee is $5, which includes a
run t-shirt. Registration for the 10K
run will be taken up until race time.

Burt, Jennings wed
in Juno ceremonies
Connie Elaine Burt and Phillip
Dwayne Jennings were united in
marriage at 2 p.m. Sept. 15 at Juno
Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James Burt, DawsonviUe.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Oliver Jennings, Cumming.
The Rev. Monroe Gunter and the
Rev. Eligia Cowart performed the
ceremony and a program of wedding
music was presented by Gail Wright,
pianist, Julie Walls and Reggie Stow
ers, soloists.
The bride was given in marriage by
her parents. Sentimental items in
cluded a locket belonging to her
Grandmother Burt and a diamond
ring, a gift from the groom. A family
Bible, a gift from the bride’s grand
parents, Rev. and Mrs. Eligia Cow
art, was used during the ceremony.
Teresa Burt, the bride’s sister-in
law of DawsonviUe, served as matron
of honor. Bridesmaids were Tammy
Richards, Alpharetta; Renee Cowart,
bride’s cousin, DoraviUe; Melissa
Hulsey, DawsonviUe; Paula Buice,
Cumming; and Vikki Vandergriff,
groom’s cousin, Decatur.
Emily HiU, bride’s cousin, Cum
ming, served as flower girl. Shannon
Lanier Islands spacious houseboats.
Cruise arrangements can be made at
the festival site.

hearsal dinner on the eve of the
wedding.
Following the ceremony, the
bride’s parents hosted a reception at
the church. Assisting were Hazel
Stowers, Pam Stowers, Brenda HiU,
Wanda Jones, Jackie Cowart, Donna
PUcher and Geraldine Jennings. Lisa
Disharoon kept the bride’s book.
Rice girls were Stacey PUcher,
Casey Milford and Janet Jennings.
Following a trip to Gatlinburg, the
couple wiU make their home in Cum
ming.
