Mochaholic is a new word. I have
just coined it. Why? Because I think it
is as appropriate as the word choca
hoiic.
Mochaholics are people who con
stantly seek recipes that include both
coffee and chocolate. They can’t re
sist the combination.
Give than a Mocha Ice Cream Soda
(coffee syrup with chocolate ice
cream, milk and dub soda) or a
Mocha Sundae (coffee ice cream with
chocolate sauce) and they’re in

ics here is a recipe for Mocha Pecan
Pie. Regular pecan pie with its
butterscotch-style flavor will always
be a classic American dessert, but
Mocha Pecan Pie should satisfy devo
tees of mocha flavor.
Mocha pecan pie
2 tablespoons instant
coffee powder
cup boiling water
Two 1-ounce squares
unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
4 large eggs
Vk cup sugar
1 cup dark com syrup
1% cups coarsely chopped
pecans
Unbaked 9-inch pastry

In a 1-quart saucepan dissolve cof
fee powder in boiling water. Add

* pound carrots, pared and
thinly sliced
5-ounce all-purpose potato,
pared and thinly sliced

1 frounce can pitted ripe dives,
drained
7-ounce jar roasted sweet red pep
pers, drained
2-ounce can anchovy fillets, drained
2 tablespoons olive oil
Garlic dove, finely chopped
% cup parsley leaves, finely chopped

Slice olives. Cut peppers into y«-
inch wide short strips. Cut anchovies
crosswise into Vk-inch pieces. In a
bowl stir together olive oil and garlic;
fold in olives, peppers and anchovies.
Cover tightly and chill to allow fla
vors to blend. Serve at room tempera

Salt and pepper to taste
In a 3-quart saucepan melt butter;
add carrots and potato; cover and
cook over moderate heat stirring
occasionally, for about 15 minutes.
Add 2)4 cups water; bring to a boil;
simmer, covered, until vegetables
are tender l5 minutes. Puree.
Dissolve milk powder in )4 cup water
and stir into carrot puree with ginger,
honey, salt and pepper. Heat to serv
ing temperature; do not boil. Makes

Green tomatoes
Salt
Fine white stoneground commeal
Butter
Light <nr dark brown sugar
Slice tomatoes about V«-inch thick.
Sprinkle with salt and dip in corn
meal. Fry in a large skillet, in one
layer, in a little hot butter, turning
once, until tender and browned. A few
minutes before tomatoes are cooked
through, sprinkle with a little sugar.
Serve at (Mice. Repeated by request.
