The Vocational Agriculture Depart
ment at North Forsyth Jr. High will
be holding an adult class on Selecting
and Breeding Beef Cattle from 7:00-

Rotarv Club of Forsyth County,
Training offered some veterans
Georgia Commissioner of Veterans
Affairs Pete Wheeler is reminding
certain disabled veterans who are
receiving compensation from the Vet
erans Administration for service-con
nected conditions that they may be
eligible for vocational rehabilitation
training if they are unemployed or
underemployed.
“Under this program,” says
Wheeler, “the VA may pay an eligible
veteran a monthly subsistence allow
ance while the veteran is enrolled in
training. In addition, the VA may pay
for tuitions, books and fees for qual
ified veterans.”

to two new posts
Ninth District Congressman Ed
Jenkins stepped up today to two new
U.S. House of Representatives lead
ership posts.
House Majority Leader Jim Wright
notified Jenkins of his appointment to
the expanded Executive Council of
the House leadership. Composed of
the Speaker, the Majority Leader, the
Majority Whip, Caucus Chairman,
and Chairman of each of the Ways
and Means, Appropriations, Rules,
Airman Bishop
gets assignment
Airman Douglas M. Bishop, son of
Catherine M. Bishop of Rural Route
11, Cumming, has been assigned to
Lowry Air Force Base, Colo., after
completing Air Force basic training.
During the six weeks at Lackland
Air Force Base, Texas, the airman
studied the Air Force mission, orga
nization and customs and received
special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete
basic training earn credits toward an
associate degree in applied science
through the Community College of
the Air Force.
The airman will now receive spe
cializedinstruction in the munitions
and weapons maintenance field.
His wife, Valerie, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John J. Bills of 107 La
Branche Drive, Ocean Springs, Miss.
He is a 1983 graduate of Ocean
Springs High School.
Waters ends
training program
Cadet First class (senior) Harold
E. Waters, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harold E.Waters, Sr. of Cumming,
recently completed the T-41 aircraft
training program here.
The program is designed to provide
aviation experience to pilot-qualified
firstclass cadets and motivate them
toward pilot training. The T-41 air
craft is an Air Force version of the
civilian Cessna 172.
All cadets participate in a variety
of aviation science and airmanship
programs that integrate key aspects
of Air Force (aviation) heritage and
present day Air Force flying opera
tions with other elements of the ca
det’s total education.

Home Federal
names Clark
as manager
Jennifer L. Clark has been named
branch manager of the Cumming
office of Home Federal Savings and
Loan.
Mrs. Clark previously served as
Branch Manager of Home Federal’s
Browns Bridge Road office in Gaines
ville. Prior to her position with Home
Federal, she werved with Sidney O.
Smith Insurance Agency in Gaines
ville.
Mrs. Clark served as a personal
banker at Citizens and Southern Na
tional Bank in Atlanta for more than
two years.
She is an honor graduate of Lump
kin County High School in Dahlonega
and has attended North Georgia Col
lege and Oglethorpe University.

help disabled veterans overcome em
