Pilots’ wives
meet Feb. 21
The Eastern Airlines Pilots’ Wives
Club will meet Thursday, Feb. 21, at
10 a.m. at Herren’s Restaurant, 84
Luckie Street, N.W., for their
monthly meeting.
The program will be given by Shri
ley Wyrick of the Hypnosis Motiva
tion Institute, Inc., on weight control
and smoking.
Reservations will be accepted until
noon on Tuesday, Feb. 19, by calling
Lee Duke at 344-4578, Eleanor Tandy
at 977-1089, Maggie Hurley at 977-
2668, or Jean Clark in Newnan at 253-
3606.
All Eastern pilots’ wives are in
vited to attend.
Court cases
bring $14,400
Fines and forfeitures of more than
$14,400 were paid to the courts of
Forsyth County for the month of
January because of pending traffic
cases and other arrests.
According to Sgt. D.L. Willis of the
Georgia State Patrol Post 37 in Law
renceville, various courts in Forsyth
County disposed of 160 pending traffic
cases resulting in 147 guilty pleas, one
bond forfeiture, eight cases dis
missed and four nolo contendre pleas.
Sgt. Willis explained that cases and
arrests would seldom be the same
number for each month because
some cases are carried over into the
next month to coincide with court
dates.
Also, officers from the same post
made 142 arrests and issued 150 warn
ings during the month.
Of the 23 traffic accidents which
occured in Forsyth County during
January, 12 persons were injured and
there were two fatalities.
Higginbotham
receives degree
Steven J. Higginbotham, Cum
ming, is among some 200 graduates
who have received degrees at Kenne
saw College’s first fall commence
ment ceremony.
The ceremony was held in Decem
ber, 1984, at the college campus in
Marietta.
Tax group
sets meeting
Taxpayers United for Forsyth
(TUFF) will hold its regular meeting
Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m. in the
Jury Assembly Room, located on the
second floor of the courthouse.
Issues to be discussed include
TUFF’s stand on the sale of alcohol in
Forsyth County.

Perry Jennings, of Forsyth County, is among students at Gaines
ville Junior College that will be included in the 1985 edition of
Who’s Who Among students in American Junior colleges. He is
among 15 other students from the school selected as National

asked to meet
Owners of property on Lake Lanier
in Forsyth County and any other
interested persons are invited to a
meeting Monday, Feb. 11, immedi
ately following the regularly sched
uled meeting of the county
commission.
A room for the meeting will be
announced. Monday night’s commis
sion meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Who’s who
Miss Standridge, Mr. Bolton to wed
Mr. and" Mrs. Ed Standridge of
Cumming announce the engagement
of their daughter, Kandi Earlene, to
Max Odell Bolton, also of Cumming.
The bride-elect is the grand
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E.R.
Fowler, and Mrs. Opal fhomason,
all of Dallas. She is a senior at
Forsyth County High School, and is
presently employed with Shoney’s of
Cumming.
The groom-elect is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Harley Bolton. He is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Noah
Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Judge
Bennett, all of Cumming. He is a
1981 graduate of Forsyth County
High School and is employed with
Ed Standridge Well Drilling.
Building permits show increase
Building permits issued by the For
syth County Planning Department in
January were up 22 percent com
pared to the same month last year.
Total permit issues jumped from 53
in January, 1984, to 65 last month,
while issues of single-family permits
rose from 30 to 41, an increase of 36
percent.
Single-family permits represented
63 percent of the total permits issued
last month.
Categories of building for which
last month’s 65 total permits were
issued, the number of permits issued
in those categories and the valuations
of buildings to be constructed with the
permits, are as follows:
Single-family homes, 41, $2,500,000;
amusement and recreational build
ings, 1, $20,300; industrial buildings,
2, $1,184,000; service stations and
Forsyth woman
killed in wreck
A Forsyth County woman was
killed in a two-vehicle accident Fri
day afternoon, according to Coroner
Buck Ingram.
Ingram identified the woman as
Jean Ash, of Forsyth County, whose
body was sent to North Carolina.
He said the accident apparently
occurred around noon Friday at the
intersection of Georgia 400 and Cross
Roads Road and that Mrs. Ash was
taken to Forsyth County Hospital and
later transported to Atlanta at North
side Hospital where she died early
Saturday morning.
Additional details will be released
later.
One injured
in accident
A 21-year-old Forsyth County man
was injured in a one-care accident
Jan. 28, arround 8:30 a.m. on the Old
Atlanta Road because of icy condi
tions.
According to Forsyth County Sher
iff Department reports, Bobby Glenn
Bennett of Cumming route 5, driving
a 1979 AMC, approached a hill and hit
an ice coated road. On the down-hill
surface he lost control of the car and
skidded off the road and hit a tree.
He was transported to Forsyth
County Hospital where he was
treated for his injuries.

day, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m. at the home of
the bride’s parents in Cumming. All
