Robert Robertson has been elected
president of the Forsyth County Inde
pendent Insurance Agents Associa
tion.
During a meeting held last month,
the membership elected new officers,
putting Robertson to head the group
and electing Steve Jackson, vice
president; Roger Davis, secretary
and treasurer.
The association meet at Lanier
Lodge and present at the meeting
were Don Hartsfield, Jackson, with
Don Hartsfield and Associates; Gene
Hansard, Hansard Insurance
Agency; Billy Waters, Waters Insur
ance Agency; Charles Welch and Jim
Adkins, with Lanier, Huffman and
Robinson; Robertson, Cumming In
surance Agency and Roger Davis of
Moore Insurance Agency.
The main topic of discussion was
the proposed premium tax, which is
paid to the state by insurance compa
nies and endorsed by the Independent
Insurance Agents of Georgia a
spokesman said.

Mobile Land gets four gold awards
Mobil Land Development Corpora
tion of Georgia took four first-place
gold awards and three silver merit
awards at the National Association of
Home Builders (NAHB) 41st annual
convention in Houston Jan. 26-30.
Mobil Land becomes the first metro
Atlanta developer to bring home a
gold award from the NAHB.
The nationwide gold and silver
awards for marketing excellence
were presented by the NAHB’s edu
cational council, the members of the
Institute of Residential Marketing
(MIRM), in conjunction with
BUILDER magazine.
Winners were selected from among
some 650 entries in 28 categories of
competition.

A discount offer from Lanierland
Drugs paid off a little bit more than
just saving money for Shirley Tinsley
of Cumming route 11.
While she was in the drug store
purchasing some prescription drugs,
she redeemed a Shoppers’ Aid coupon
which was later drawn for the grand
prize. Ms. Tinsley received a General

tising, direct mail, and promotions
tied to the “We Make Atlanta Home”
campaign publicizing the commu
nities of Windward, Horseshoe Bend,
and Brickton.
In addition to Mobil Land’s MIRM
awards, the NAHB convention also
brought another Atlanta first: the
selection of Windward/HOrseshoe
Bend Residential Sales Manager Da

ager of the Year.” Baker ranks as the
first Atlantan to receive this award,
presented annually by the NAHB’s
Sales and Marketing Council to honor

My wife and I had a most interest
ing discussion the other evening con
cerning people we have known who
really do make a positive and lasting
mark on their community. We got
around to analyzing the people who
have served on the board of directors
of this Chamber since I’ve been em
ployed by it. So, without naming
names (that’s called guarding your
posterior, or words to that effect), it’s
interesting to point out some charac
teristics which they share to a great
degree:
1) Busy They’re engaged in
Shoppers’ Aid, Inc., started on’y in
the first part of 1982, but is growing
rapidly, said Ms. Harvey. This divi
sion handles direct mail campaigns,
targeting the small business market;
and using the capabilities of offset
printing and merchandising material
production, as well as computerized
list maintenance.

What brought on this dissertation is
that a committee has been appointed
to nominate new candidates for the
four places to be filled on the Board
each year.
