Psalmist encourages
studying the Bible
In Psalm 119.11, the Psalmist
writes, “Thy Word have I hid in my
heart, that I may not sin against
Thee.”
Here is a verse that encourages us
to put His Word in our hearts and
lives. To study it, read it, meditate
upon it, and especially to apply it and
put it into our lives takes time; and
even more, is a lot of work.
It strikes me strange, however, to
see that in many popular book stores,
the section on “religious” writings is
usually a small shelf in the back that
is sparsely stocked with books on
prayer, self-image and even holy
books of other religions.
I’m aware that many churches
support Christian book stores that are
stocked completely with Christian
oriented material; and we need to

What is involved in church life?
Voices are being raised in great
numbers all across our land, for new
life in the churches, revival, renewal,
a breath of fresh air, more outreach.
What is really involved in having
new life in the churches? The first
and most pressing requirement for
new life is for there to be new life in
the people who belong to the
churches. The church of Christ does
not die, nor lose faith, nor grow.apa
thetic or become ineffective. It is we,
the people of the church, who let the
fires of faith die out within our lives.
Most people claim to be a member
of some church. On the surface this

see some disturbing factors in these
statistics.
The religious affiliation reported by
many is trivial and superficial. It is

HELP PRESERVE LAKE LANIER
The Lake Lanier Property Owners Association, Inc. # a
10-year-old non-profit organization, is now enrolling
members.
The association is the voice of those who own property
adjoining Lake Sidney Lanier and others interested in pro
tecting property owners' rights and improving the lake and
its environs. Current concerns include:
1. Planting of pine trees by the Corps of Engineers
along the lakeshore.
2. Regulations affecting private docks on the lake.
3. Stability of the water level and protection of
Lanier's water supply from being drained off downstream.
4. Control of pollution, trash dumping in the lake and
bank soil erosion.
5. Safety for users of the lake.
Join the Lake Lanier Property Owners Association and
be informed of policies affecting the welfare of all in
Lanierland. Participate in discussions with the Corps of
Engineers and other governmental agencies. In unity there
is strength.

To many in this church survey,
church membership meant that the
parents drove the kids to church and
returned to pick them up after serv

affiliation! It is almost as though the
parents expected, by some form of
osmosis, faith would seep into their
children.
Our families will value the church
of our Lord and all that it stands for to
the degree that we value and honor
the church before them by our exam
ple.

Andrew Gillies that sums it all up:
“Last night my little boy confessed
to me some childish wrong, and
kneeling at my knee, he prayed with
tears in his eyes: ‘God, make me a
man like daddy, wise and strong. I
know you can.’
Then, while he slept, I knelt beside
his bed, confessed my sins and
prayed with low-bowed head, ‘O God,
make me as a child, like my son,
pure, guiltless, honest, trusting thee
with faith sincere.”
