types of animals can be important
sources of stability for children, par
ents, elderly and single people in

Growing up with an affectionate,
furry friend is a favorite memory of
most everyone’s childhood. Dogs and
cats are wonderful pals with whom
children love and care for and with
whom children can share their
thoughts, dreams and emotions.
Pets are great teachers because
they encourage children to explore
the world around them, and they

Comfort to singles and elderly
People who live alone welcome the
warmth and steady companionship of
pets. They appreciate having their
pet sitting at the door or gate waiting
for their return home. These pets not
only provide love, but they provide a
sense of safety and security also.
Pets can be particularly important
to elderly people. They help cure the
fear of being alone, and they can give
and do give an older person a sense of
being needed and loved. A pet pro
vides a sense of productiveness in
daily life. This is something we all
need!
Extensive research is underway
woorldwide to better understand the
relationship between people and pets.
Studies indicate that pets are good for
our physical and mental health.. Peo
ple who suffer heart attacks may live
longer if they own a pet. People with
