Parker named
to dean’s list
Kennesaw College has named 795
students to the summer quarter
dean’s list including a girl from Cum
ming.
Sandra E. Parker earned at least 10
credit hours during the quarter with a
grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9 out of
a possible 4.0.

at Scoutland, in Gainesville.
Astronaut Col. Roy D. Bridges, Jr.,
NASA Shuttle pilot, and a Gainesville
native, has been selected as Honor
ary Jamboree Chief.
Bridges will spend much of the day
Saturday at the jamboree.

the thrill of camping, competition and

McLean of Cumming, participated in
the summer CHAOS freshman orien
tation program at Armstrong State
College recently.
The college is located in Savannah
and began classes on Sept. 19.

land, located on Lake Lanier in the
Chattahoochee Estates area.
More than 1,500 youth members are
expected to camp, with an additional
1,200 to 2,000 guests viewing this
Scouting extravaganza over the
weekend.
Activities include Arena Shows on
Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., and
on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Keith Thompson of Cumming has
been named to the fall quarter Direc
tor’s List at Pickens Tech.
Keith is a full-time student in the
drafting and design technology pro
gram.

ous other Scout activities.
The highlight of the weekend will be
a fireworks show on Saturday eve
ning.
The general public, media rep
resentatives and all friends of Scout
ing are invited to “Catch the Scouting
Spirit” and come on out to Scoutland.
There is no cost for admission.
Senior campers
A group of Forsyth County se
nior citizens attended camp re
cently at Will-A-Way in Winder.
The camp is designed espe
cially for senior citizens and
included such activities as
Bingo, arts and crafts, demon
strations on the art of Bonsai,
dress-up contests, boat rides
and skits. Accompaning the
group was Judy Buice of the
Forsyth County Parks and Rec
reation Department. Pictures

According to Director Tom Harri
son, to be named to the Director’s
List, a student must maintain an
average of 93.0 and be enrolled in the
program of study leading to a di
