Cumming Events
Cumming Chorale Christmas concert, Dec. 7&9
The Cumming Chorale’s annual
Christmas concert will take place
Thursday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec.
9.
Both performances will be at 8 p.m.
at the Cumming First United Method
ist Church on Pilgrim Mill Road. The
concert’s theme is “Christmas is
Cumming” It will be a potpourri of
holiday songs.
Tickets are avilable from Chorale
members or at the door. The cost is $4
per person or $lO a family. For more

Sen. Howard to visit
Rotary November 30
Senator Pierre Howard (D-Deca
tor) will bring his campaign for Lieu
tenant Governor to Forsyth County on
Thursday, November 30.
Howard will speak to the Forsyth
County Rotary Club at the Lanier Golf
Club at noon as a guest of Rafe Banks.
Howard will also visit several
places in the county.
American Showtime
circus coming soon
The 1989 American Showtime Cir
cus will be hosted by Spina BiFida As
sociation on Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the
Otwell Middle School gymnasium.
The circus is part of a fund raiser to
help raise money for the Spina BiFida
Association.
The association is also involved in
conducting an advanced telephone
campaign to raise money.

Animal ordinance
group meets Monday
The Forsyth County Animal Control
Ordinance Committee will meet Mon
day, Nov. 27 and again on Monday,
Dec. 11th at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will be in the Commu
nity Room of the courthouse. The
meeting is open to the public. For

Democratic Party sets
its meeting on Dec. 6
The Forsyth County Democratic
Party will have its meeting Wednes
day night, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting will be at the Western
Steer. For more infromation call 887-

Red Cross blood drive
planned for Nov. 30
The American Red Cross will hold a
blood drive on Thursday, Nov. 30 from
2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The drive will be held in the Com
munity Room of the courthouse and
assisting will be the men and women
of the Lakeside Community Hospital
auxiliary.
Fingerprinting to be
offered for children
Fingerprinting children for their
safety is the goal of an effort being
done Dec. 2 at WalMart and Kmart.
The fingerprinting is being spon
sored by the Sawnee Junior Women’s
Club and the Forsyth County Mar
shall’s office.

Pecans for sale by
Cumming Kiwannis
The Cumming Kiwannis Club is
selling pecans to raise funds for the
club’s activites.
Pecans are $4.50 per pound.

Share The Light gala
Ticket for the Dec. 1 “Share The
Light” gala sponsored by the Ameri
can Cancer Society, Forsyth County
Chapter are still on sale.
The gala is the local chapter’s fun
draiser to benefit Forsyth Countians
and the American Cancer Society.
The event is black-tie optional and
will be held from 8 p.m to midnight at
the Polo Fields Golf and Country
Club.

Arthritis aquatic
program is offered
Lanier Athletic Center is currently
offering a special aquatic exercise
program designed specifically for
persons with arthritis.
Classes are held every Monday and
Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15
a.m. Lanier Athletic Center is located
Lanier Crossing Shopping Center.
The program is taught by people
trained by the Arthritis Foundation.
There is no charge for Center mem
bers and it’s $5 per class for non
members.

for new members
The Forsyth County Civitan Club is
seeking interested and active individ
uals to join their volunteer club.
The club meets cm the first and third
Thursday of each month at the West
ern Steer in Cumming.

Designing sweatshirts
is new course offered
Wanda Nix of the Country Mouse
will teach the technique of applying
fabric to ordinary sweatshirts and
painting around the appliques for a
designer look.
The cost is $17.50 and classes will be
held on Nov. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Decorating contest
is gearing up again
The annual Outdoor Christmas Dec
orating Contest is underway again,
being sponsored by The Norton Agen
cy and the Forsyth County News.
The deadline to enter your house or
business is Friday, Dec. 8. The judg
ing will be held Dec. 12 from 5:30 p.m.
to 10 p.m.
Prizes will be awarded in four cate
gories, Private homes traditional;
Private Homes, childrens’ delight;
Private Homes religious; and Busi
ness and Institutions.

at Cumming City Park
Tambra Bryant will instruct ballet,
jazz and tap for children ages 3-12 at
the City Park on Tuesdays. Classes
run year-round, meeting once a week.

Flu vaccine is given
at health department
The Flu vaccine will be given at the
Forsyth County Health Department
every Wednesday from 9 a.m to 11
a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The vaccine will be given to people
who are 60 years or older and/ or
those with chronic illnesses. The
charge is $5.
