Heather Johnson named
top Century 111 Leader
Heather Johnson, a senior at For
syth Central High School, has been
named the school’s top Century 111
Leader, according to Kenny Foxx,
principal.
The 17-year-old student is now eligi
ble to compete with other local win
ners from around the state for one of
two $1,500 college scholarships and an
all-expense paid trip to the national
Century HI Leadership Conference,
March 2-5, 1990 in Colonial Williams
burg, Virginia.
State delegates will compete for the
national winner’s prize of an addition
al SIO,OOO scholarship.
The Century 111 Leaders program is
designed to recognize student leaders
who show strong leadership abilities
and an interest in the future of Ameri
ca. Heather was judged on the basis of
leadership skills, academic success,
school and community involvement
and a current events examination.
Runners-up in the competition at
Forsyth Central High School were
Kelly Kohn and Ferrell Allen.
This is the 14th year of the Century
111 Leaders program, which annually
awards a total of $249,100 in scholar
ships to student leaders. Century 111 is
funded by Shell Oil Company Founda
tion and administered by the National
Association of Secondary Principals.
The Williamsburg meeting will be
highlighted by major speakers and
seminars.
High schools
1989 holiday
presentations
The choruses and bands at the two
high schools are gearing up to present
holiday concerts.
The Forsyth Central High School
Chorus, along with members of the
Flash of Crimson Band, will present a
Christmas Concert at First Baptist
Church on Sunday, Dec. 3.
The 7 p.m. concert will feature solo
ists and ensembles as well as tradi
tional music. The public is invited.
The South Forsyth High School
Band and Chorus will present a con
cert on Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the
school cafeteria following the PTA
meeting.
The program will include music for
all seasons in addition to Christmas
and holiday music. The public is
invited.

There is a new look at Big Creek especially the new plants which adorn the
outside the school on Hwy 141. The job was done by Pursley Landscaping,
Sawnee Junior Woman's Club, Cumming Garden Club and the PTO at the
