Forsyth County Council on Child
Abuse will be participating in a ra

throughout Georgia.
The 18-hour holiday Hope for Kids
event sponsored by Atlanta radio sta

on Child Abuse, Inc. will be broadcast
live Tuesday, Dec. 5 from Cumber

State Sen. Pierre Howard believes
in an aggressive leadership for
Georgia.
This aggressive leadership includes
a partnership between business and
the state government, he said Thurs
day to members of the Rotary Club.
Howard is a candidate for the Lieu
tenant Governor’s post being vacated
by Zell Miller.
“The support of many Georgians
for my ideas and my candidacy has
given me reason to be very optimistic
about my chances in this election for
Lieutenant Governor,” Howard said.
In line with his aggressive leader
ship platform, Howard proposed a
Grace Commission composed of busi
nessmen who report to the leaders
how best to promote progress in the
state.
“We are in competition from not
only our neighboring states for incom
ing industry to our state, but from ev
ery state in the country,” said
Howard.
“Georgia is such a varied state, the
government must be run more effi
ciently to be able to continue to press
all areas of the state forward in pro
gress,” he said.
“We have to work toward a stron
ger, more aggressive criminal justice
system. We have to get tougher with
enforcement, where the drug dealer
or violent felon must serve at least
one third of his sentence,” Howard
said.
Right now, the offenders know they
won’t have to stay in jail long and be
cause of that the justice system is not
effective, Howard said.
“I know to make the criminal jus

“We must concentrate on education
and the importance of supporting it
for the children,” he said.
Regarding the dropout rate of high

He is determined to work to see that
economic prosperity and growth be
