Gala time
There were more than 300 people on hand
Friday for the Share The Light Gala sponsored
by the local Cancer Socety. The group ex
ceeded the goal of raising $20,000. At the
silent auction more than $4,000 was raised
including a social membership at the Polo
Fields Golf and Country Club which sold for
$4lO, a car phone from Auto Cellular Commu
nications which went for $420 and a drawing
of a polo player done by Linda Witt Day sold for
$260 and a social membership at Lanier Golf
Club sold for $230. There were also footballs
and baseballs signed by Steve Bartkowski and
Ernie Johnson. Among those in attendance
was John Nuesse who samples food,
Bartkowski is shown holding Jamie Voerg,3, a
child who has contracted cancer and was ac
companied to the gala by parents Jim and
Kathy, Bartkowski and Johnson are shown
with Pam Felker, Barbara Plyler and Kathy
Brannon. Brannon and Plyler co-chaired the
event and Felker served as executive director.
At bottom items at the silent auction are viewed
by Garrett Stahr and his wife Rebecca.
