County Parks holds
Summer Day Camps
The theme for this summer's Sum
mer Day Camps will be Pioneer Days.
Activities include: arts & crafts, na
ture. cooking, archery, quiet and ac
tive games, sports, dance and field
trips Children should bring sack
lunches; drinks and snacks are
provided.
Each camp, set for ages 6-12, will
run Monday through Friday, from 9
a.m -3 p.m. The cost is S4O per camp.
The first session will be held June
25-29 at Mashbum Elementary.
Camps will also be held at the follow
ing dates and locations: July 9-13
(Coal Mtn. Elementary; July 16-20
(Midway Park); July 23-27 (Big Creek
Elementary); July 30-Aug. 3 (Chesta
tee Elementary): Aug. 6-10 (Midway
Park).

Great Expectations
set for City Park
Summer camp at the Cumming Re
creation and Parks Department of
fers a great environment - a place
where children enjoy activities fully
supervised with care and affection.
These camps are designed for the
pleasure of school-age children, of
fering exciting field trips to such
places as Yellow River Wildlife
Game Ranch. WSB TV and Sci-Trek
Children are exposed to skill devel
opment activities that are fun and
produce a love for physical fitness
and team sportsmanship. The $55 fee
includes camp T-Shirt, craft sup
plies. program materials and special
activity' fees. Tennis shoes are re
quired. Camps will meet 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
for five days.

County Parks holds
horseback riding
Youth and Adult English and West
ern Pleasure Horseback Riding les
sons will begin June 5 at Sunny Sta
bles on Hwy. 369. The classes will be
held Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Cost for six lessons will be be SBS.
The lessons will cover the basic
fundamentals of riding and horse
manship. Safety, grooming, tack,
waltotrot/canter will be covered. Hel
mets will be provided. Tracy Mar
cotte is the instructor.

Kids Camp at
City Park
This is a camp for children age 4.5
and 6 who have not yet entered the
first grade.
The camp is structured for pre
schoolers, providing them with a
safe, well-organized and fun-filled
week Because young campers have a
shorter attention span and are not
ready to focus for long periods of time
on one activity, this camp runs from 9
a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The fee is $35 and includes a camp
T-Shirt, arts and crafts supplies, pro
gram materials, refreshments and
special activity fees. Campers will en
joy field trips to places such as the
Yellow River Wildlife Game Ranch,
Sho-Biz Pizza and Zoo Atlanta. Chil
dren also will swim each day under
the supervision of trained lifeguards.
Tennis shoes are required.
The first session is Goofy Olympics
Week (June 11-15). The remainder of
the schedule is as follows: Wet & W’ild
Week (July 9-13), Wild. Wild West
Week (July 23-27) and Double Dare
Week (July 30-Aug. 3).
Forsyth County
golf lessons
The Forsyth County Parks and Re
creation Department will be sponsor
ing golf lessons this summer.
Youth and Adult Golf Lessons are
scheduled Monday through Friday,
beginning May 28, at the Browns
Bridge Practice Range on Highway
369.
‘Straighten Out Your Drive and Hit
It Long' workshops will be held every
Saturday in June. The fee is sls.
Junior and Senior Golf Clinics will
be held June 4-8, beginning at 10:30
a m. Basic fundamentals are covered
by professional Gary Williams. The
fee is SSO.
Individuals wishing to register

City Park’s pool
sets summer hours
The Cumming City Park’s swim
ming pool will be open to the public
on June 2. Pool hours for June 2-20
will be 1-6 p.m.
Beginning June 11, pool hours for
the remainder of the summer will be
1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays,
and 1-5 p.m. oniy on Thursdays, Sat
urdays and Sundays.
Admission is $1.50 for all ages.
Family Season Passes will be avail
able at the pool beginning June 2.
Passes will be honored anytime dur
ing the summer when the pool is open
to the public and may be used by im
mediate family members only. Cost
for the season pass is SSO.
