The Champs opened the tournament in strong fashion,
scoring an 8-1 victory over Teledyne. Cumming didn’t
waste any time getting on the scoreboard in that game,
posting four runs in the first inning. They also scored once
in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Cumming which collected 11 hits, managed six in the
first inning. Winning pitcher Lisa Sorrells limited Tele
dyne to six hits.

sixth. Kim Clark’s single drove in Sandy Bagley for Cum
ming’s sole run in the second. Rogers and Kim Clark, who
had two hits each in the game, were responsible for the
sixth inning runs.
The Valley girls sent the Champs into the loser s brack
et, beating the Forsyth County -based team 3-1. The Valley

Champs rallied, scoring single runs in the fifth and sev
enth innings. Karen Wilson and Lisa Edwards collected
the RBIs in those two innings.
Cumming s next game as they top R’s place 3-3 The
Champs, which trailed 3-0 after one, scored two runs in
each ofthe second and third innings. They added another
run in the sixth.
The wildest contest of the tournament, to date, came
next The Champs beat Texas Roofing 14-11. Cumming
collected 20 hits while Texas had 14.
Cumming scored two in the first, three in the second
and four in the fourth. The Champs scored once more
the fourth and added four more in the fifth.
Texas Roofing, which had scored twice in the fi
rallied for six in the third and three more in the foui
Next came Cumming s 22-7 win over the Jersey Gi
Waters watched as his team collected 23 hits, includ
three triples and a homer.
The Champs scored nine times in the third and onct
the fifth. They finished the game off w.th a toumame
high 12 runs in the sixth.
