Employee of the Year at Scottish Rite Childrens Medical Center Cumming woman’s contribution to children’s heathcare recognized A Cumming resident was recently honored for truly making a sizable dif ference in children’s healthcare when she was named the top employee at one of the country’s premier children’s medical centers. Cyndi Fowls-, RN., was named 1992 -1993 Employee rf the Year at Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center in Atlanta. She received the honor, along with recognition for ten years of ser vice, at the 1993 Scottish Rite Service Awards banquet held last month. Before joining Scottish Rite, she worked in the Coronary Care Unit at Atlanta’s West Paces Ferry Hospital. She is no stranger to Scottish Rite. Her brother was a patient at Scottish Rite when it was a small facility for crippled children in Decatur and she played on the grounds while he received treatment When she decid ed to move into pediatric nursing, she knew she wanted to be at Scottish Rite County audience. They praise her for the outstanding clinical skills she brings to patient care and for her ded ication to meeting the emotional and psychological needs of the entire fam ily. Her staff describe her as being just as caring, concerned and supportive with them as she is with the patients. The Atlanta native says she likes Kv years, said General Manager Jeff Hilliard. Hilliard heads a whole office full of newcomers who are bringing a good deal of radio experience to Forsyth County listeners, said Hilliard. Ms. Fowler’s dedication doesn’t stop with Scottish Rite. She is very dedi cated to her family and has a passion for hiking and backpacking. Last sum mer, she and her family climbed Mr. LeCompte, Georgia’s tallest peak. The family also renovated the 67-year-old The change was preceded by a 6- month market research study to help the radio station see who is out there to listen. Also, it was preceded by an offer from a Florida firm to buy the radio station. “We did not want people coming up here who did not care about the coun ty and the people and taking over this station,” said Hilliard. The station remains under the own ership of Lanier Broadcasting, Inc., a local corporation. The format of the station, soon to be changed to WMLB, is talk, news, and information, with gospel music on in the evening from 7 p.m. to sign-off at 8:45. The station offers the Milton Crabapple Show, Ludlow Porch, Rich Simpson and plenty of opportunities to call in and voice your opinion. The station will also have many guests such as local politicians ready to take calls including a weekly show featur ing Rep. Mike Evans of Cumming. Local news and information will run every 15 to 20 minutes including traf fic, both local and in metro Atlanta.
