“May is outstanding. He stays
after the meeting to help parents
and students first hand. I encour
age all seniors and parents to plan
to be there,” said Central’s Johnnie
Day.
Financial aid comes in many
forms, and the opportunity to
reduce the costs of attending a col
lege, university, technical or trade
school is often achieved by well
informed students and
parents/guardians.
There are as many different
methods of obtaining financial aid
and student loans as there are col
leges to attend, it seems, and the
prices of these schools vary
remarkably. The amounts of
scholarships, aid and loans sup
plied also vary according to the
type of aid received.
For the 1997-1998 school year,
SFA (Student Financial
Assistance) Programs delivered
approximately $42.8 billion in aid
to almost 8 million students across
the country.
These sources of aid differ
according to the recipient’s finan
cial need and academic merit.
Major SFA Programs include
Federal Pell Grants, Campus-
Based Programs, William D. Ford
Federal Direct Loans, and Federal
Family Education Loans. Each of
these major programs include
work study, Perkins Loans,
Stafford Loans, PLUS Loans and
other types of educational merit
opportunities.
For more information on finan
cial aid, call (800) 433-3243 or
attend the meeting on Feb. 4.
