“It’s a benefit to the firefighters
and to me,” said Butler.
Full timers will get the opportuni
ty to try new things on the course,
such as different victim carries and
hose lifts. They will also have a
reason to stay physically fit.
For Butler, the course will be
used a measuring tool to find out
how “in shape” the department is.
The obstacle course run is part of
Butler’s program to update the
winning ribbons since her first
show as a kitten.

Atlanta Garden and Patio Show
will feature Pat Simpson Feb. 1
Pat Simpson of the HGTV pro
grams Fit-It-Up and Before and
After, will be a special guest at this
year’s Atlanta Garden and Patio
Show at the Cobb Galleria Centre,
being held through Feb. 1.
Simpson’s interest in home
improvement began at an early
age, hanging out with his dad who
was “a big, big do-it-yourselfer.”
With his dad and brother, he
worked on everything from small
repairs to building boathouses.
Simpson discovered he had a nat
ural ability to build and repair,
which led to his 20 year career in
home enhancement.
After moving to Atlanta in 1989,
Simpson’s employer Osmose
Wood Preserving, bought the
Weekend Gardener television show
and featured Simpson as one of the
hosts. Backyard America, a home
improvement and gardening show,
soon followed and ran for eight
